Nothing felt sure anymore. Everything I was feeling right now was unexplainable. The fact that my nightmares were standing just a few feet away from me made me hide and force myself below the counter. Everyone looked at me like a mad woman, well, a few more minutes then I really will turn into one.

“You three go out, we’ll stay for a while.” Eric said calmly, motioning them to go outside.

The three of them threw me a worried glance before heading outside.

This time, I wasn’t sitting on the car’s chair. Instead, I was hiding. Trying to calm myself and pretend everything was just a dream, that I was on my apartment, ready to see Kelly in their office.

I tried to move away as Eric moved closely. My head bumped into the counter, making me think that this wasn’t a dream, but the scary reality.

Eric gripped my shoulders, trying to stop me from shaking wildly. “Calm down.” He said in a soothing voice. That won’t work on me.

He gripped it harder when he noticed that it his actions only made it worse.

I couldn’t hold it anymore. “You lied to me.” I shrugged his hands away, it’s infected with lies.

They all are.

His eyes softened a bit, but he composed himself afterwards.

“You don’t want to go back to being Nathalie right?” his voice was harsh.

His question made me wonder. Why was he asking about it?

“N-n-no.” my teeth was chattering.

He didn’t respond.

Then my brain stopped working, it can’t process what was happening.

Why was the air leaving my lungs?

Then everything went clear.

Eric was kissing me.

On that exact moment he stopped. He pressed his forehead to mine as he breathed heavily. He gripped my shoulders again, and then I realized I was still shaking. Of course, he wasn’t my mate so it wouldn’t have any effect on me. Although it made me a bit calm, this was weird since I was in the state of panic.

“I have to mask your scent.” He explained. “You’re going to pretend that your my mate.” He added.

“No.” I said after mustering all the courage to talk confidently.

“You don’t want to be Nathalie right? So be Grace.” He said with finality.

But it was still not enough. How do I know that he wasn’t using me? How do I know that this is all not planned? Or if he was on the other side?

Eric hugged me, “Please. Trust me on this.”

I closed my eyes and accepted the warmth that I have never had before. He was sincere about it.

But the doubt I have was still nagging me on the back of my head.

You can trust him I shiver went in my spine as I heard a voice at the back of my head. It was impossible that it was only me. And its voice was raspy like it just got out of bed.

You forgot about me already? Grace. She said my name with sarcasm. And that was a clue to which that voice belongs to. Who could be more sarcastic other than my wolf?

I cringed as something painful hit my head like a stone. Goodbye for now. She said in panic before totally disappearing.

“Your wolf.” Eric said, shocked.
