Most 11 year old boys were excited to be boarding the gleaming, scarlet engine, stationed on Platform 9 ¾ . Teddy Lupin, however, was anxious. His normally turquoise hair was flashing quickly between light brown and bubblegum pink, as if he couldn't make up his mind about something. He grabbed the grey tweed beanie he kept in his back pocket and crammed it onto his head, annoyed with himself. He took a deep breath and placed one foot on the platform step.
"Oi, Teddy!" called a familiar voice from behind him. Teddy turned to see his godfather jogging toward him. Suddenly, a buzz of whispers erupted all across the platform.
"It's Harry Potter!"
"Look, Dad! That's Harry Potter, that is!"
A young girl was tugging on her mother's arm, trying to get a closer look. All heads turned to watch as The Boy Who Conquered approached a skinny boy in ripped jeans and a faded black shirt that read "Death Cab for Cutie".
"Hey, Uncle Harry!" Teddy breathed a sigh of relief. "You just missed Gram."
"No worries, Teds. I'll pop in later. I just wanted to see my favorite godson before his big day." He poked Teddy's upturned nose. Teddy shifted his gaze to the ground.
"You alright?" Harry asked.
"Uncle Harry," Teddy began. He paused, scuffing the toe of his Converse across the heavily treaded concrete. Harry waited.
"I just.....Uncle Harry, I just don't know whether to go like mum or like dad."
Harry placed on hand on each of the boy's quivering shoulders. "Neither," he replied firmly. "You go as Edward Remus Lupin. The kindest, bravest, most dedicated 11 year old I know. Just be yourself. Your parents will be proud. Trust me."
Teddy grinned, and pulled the beanie off his brilliantly blue hair. He gave his godfather a hug, flashed him one more brilliant smile, so reminiscent of his father's, and boarded the Hogwarts Express decidedly less anxious.
