This Is My Future

Chapter 1

3rd Person P.O.V

"Robin!" Artemis shouted, running after the Boy Wonder, "Stop chasing the guy!"

"We need to know who he is and what he's doing!" Robin retorted, glancing at her over his shoulder.

She growled, "He could just be a camper, who you just scared into running away!"

"In a high tech full bodied armor suit!?"

"Hardcore, no 'roughing it' camping?" She suggested.

Robin ignored her and ran faster as the unknown man dodged through the trees.

She picked up her speed trying to keep a similar pace with Robin. As she ran past the trees she noticed that some of the thicker ones were freshly broken in half.

"Well," she muttered. "I definitely know who Poison Ivy's next victim will be." She jumped over a log and ran faster, "Robin!"

She ran into a clearing where Robin stood, with the man opposite of him. She skidded to a stop next to her younger teammate and looked at the man.

"So, who's this guy...?" She whispered to Robin.

"No clue," he said quietly. "Never seen him before."

Robin pulled up his wrist computer scanning the man's suit.

The man threw a silver cylinder with a blinking red light at them.

"Duck!" Artemis shouted and shoved Robin before jumping away herself.

The cylinder hit the ground. There was a huge hole gouged into the earth, but there had been no explosion to make the hole.

Artemis stood up and looked at the hole in shock. She looked at Robin to make sure he was okay, he looked as shocked as her. She shot an arrow at the man and it cut the shoulder cap of his suit.

He glared at her as sparks spurt from his shoulder, "You're going to pay for that, brat."

He pulled a gun on her, which was quickly knocked out of his hands by Robin's bird-a-rang.

Robin ran at the man.

The man lashed at Robin and he was flung backwards into Artemis, knocking her to the ground.

"Are you okay, Artemis?" Robin asked rolling off of her.

She groaned and took a sharp breath in. "I'm fine," she gritted out.

"Look out!" Robin shouted and jumped on her when the man threw another cylinder.

"See you another time!" They heard the man laugh before the cylinder landed on Robin's back.

Artemis yelped in surprise when the ground disappeared from under her. She was floating and spinning in crazy circles, seeing Robin every so often.

She managed to keep herself still.

"Robin!" She shouted, but he was unconscious. She pulled out an arrow attached to a rope. "Steady..." she told herself, feeling as if she were blacking out as well. She shot the arrow and it embedded into a pouch on Robin's belt. She yanked him to her.

She tied the rope around his torso and did the same to herself, securing the rope before she slipped into darkness.
