Niall
...........

I go to all my classes for once today. And when I make it to my last/favorite class of the day, the thing that makes it my favorite is nowhere to be found.

I sit in my usual spot and wait for October to show up. Weirdly, she does not. I find myself frowning by the end of the class.

What could she be doing if she skipped class? With someone else? I shake the dreaded thoughts from my head and instead focus on pushing my way past people to her dorm room.

When I finally make it to the door I take a second to listen. I hear no sounds if snogging so I open the door and walk in.

I find October with her knees tucked to her chest and her sniffling. I walk over and hug her pulling her to my chest. We stay in this position for awhile before I gently push her back so I can see her face.

"What's wrong?" I ask, running my thumbs over her cheeks to wipe away the tears.

"I-it's Amber." She stutters.

"Isn't that your friend from back home?" I question.

She nods and whispers.
"My best friend."

"Well what happened to her?"

October just picks up her phone and taps a few things before handing it to me.

I look at the text message that's on the screen.

October I just don't want to fight anymore. I don't want to deal with all of this. I can't. Goodbye Toby. Thank you for being my best friend.

- Amber

I look up to see her years have started again.

"So she just... Broke up with you?" I ask confused.

"Y-yeah I guess. I just don't understand we've been best friends since 4th grade Niall. What am I gonna do?"

"I don't know. What did you do to make her.... Ya know."

"Well I haven't been talking to her lately and I guess she thinks I've forgotten about her, and I guess I kind of have. And this month her boyfriend broke up with her, her parents are getting a divorce and her little brother Max has cancer in his lungs." She rambles running her fingers through her hair.

"Well maybe you should go see her?" I suggest.

October stops and looks up at me cracking a smile. She then flings her arms around me and kisses all over my face.

"You are the smartest person ever."

"Actually it's simple really. You would've thought if it sooner or later." I laugh.

"I guess you're right." She says getting her laptop to book her flight back to California.

"Or maybe you wouldn't have because your brain would get to tired." I tease.

She punches me in the arm.
"You're an asshole Ni. You know that?"

I laugh and play on my phone as she searches the internet.

I click onto some little bird app thing October downloaded last night.

I click on the screen to make the little bird fly and I hit a green pole.
I tell myself it's okay because it's my first time, so I try again.

I make the stupid thing flap it's way over to the tubes and get halfway through the first one before the little shit hits it's head on the tube.

"Ya little wanker." I insult the game, and try yet again.

Once again, I fail by hitting the stupid bird on the tube.

"Your stupid fucking beak is gettin in the way!" I shout at the tiny yellow bird.

October laughs, but I ignore her snickers and try again.

And of fucking course. I make it past the first set if tubes the run right into the next.

"I didn't even do anything! This game is shit!" I yell and tap retry.

About the 827282 time I lose it. I chuck my phone onto Jenna's bed against the the other wall and yell at it.

"This is bullshit! That fucking game is rigged! Complete shit!"

"Maybe your the one that's shit." October laughs.

"No that game cheats." I retort.

"How can the game cheat?" She questions.

"It just does okay!"

October just laughs again and pats down my hair because my beanie fell off my head as I screamed in defeat just minutes ago.

Then, she smiles and holds up her laptop.

"Behold Two tickets to California!" She says dramatically.

"Two?"

"Yes you're coming too. You have no choice." She replies.

"Well then."

October then sets down her laptop and lies back down with her head on my chest.

"How many days are we stayin?" I ask her.

"I booked our flight for Wednesday and out flight back for next Wednesday, so a week."

I nod in agreement.

"So tomorrow we'll have to see all the assignments for the week and write them down so we're not too far behind when we get back."

"Of course you have it all planned." I laugh, then add, "So what exactly are we gonna do there?"

"Well I want to visit my parents for a few days before I see Amber. Besides she comes home almost every weekend from college, so we'll just wait to see her till Saturday."

"Okay." I smile down at her.
"So well pack tomorrow ya?"

"Yes." She agrees smiling her dimpled smile up at me.

So this was more of a filler chapter sorry! But next chapter is going to be a bit more exiting. Well actually the whole California trip is going to be very exiting. ;) vote and comment please! (I might double update if this gets 4 votes) - Tris
