The sun streamed through the scattered blinds.

Jonathan lay on the couch, his head in Evan's lap, reading a book. It might surprise some that Jonathan's somewhat of a bookworm but to Evan, this is his favorite thing.

Sitting on the couch like this while Jonathan's comfortable and reading while he himself mindlessly scrolls through his social media as a heavy feeling of content lays across the room like a warm blanket. It was his paradise. And, sometimes, he would take a peek at Jonathan.

Sometimes, his lips would rest in a flat line. Pursing or puckering when something questionable happened or he had to hold back a laugh. Every few minutes he'd readjust his glasses out of habit. (The last pair were a little big and he'd just gotten used to it by the time they found a pair of frames that fit.)

The music player was set to a list that Jonathan swore by. The soft sirens song-like humming had a bit of a tribal beat and it created a sense of ambiance as Evan rubbed his thumb over the smooth skin of Jonathan's knuckles feeling the cool gold band at the base of his ring finger.

"Hey, Jon?" Evan broke the silence with a question. Jonathan marked his place and looked up at him with a questioning hum. Cyan eyes gazing straight up into dark brown. "Yeah, Ev?" He responded back.

"I love you," Evan said simply with a small smile and Jonathan couldn't hold back the grin the stretched his lips thin. "I love you too, babe."
