Pain... One word with so many different meanings. There are many different types, the pain of seeing the one you love fall for another, the pain of loss, the pain of tragedy, the pain of being stabbed in the back by the one you love, the pain of learning about your lover's demise.
Evan sat on the couch a drink in hand, a cigarette hanging half way out of his mouth as he stared at the gun on the coffee table. Setting his drink to the side and tapping the ash from the tobacco filled monstrosity he let his fingers glide over the cool metal. He set the weapon down heading to his room grabbing the plane tickets, he was going to make him and Jonathan take a hiatus. An extended break from YouTube so they could go and see the 'Seven Wonders'. He was planning on taking them all over the world with the money he saved. Their last destination would have been the great Pyramids, where he would get down on one knee in the scorching desert with the Nile shimmering in the background as he asked Jonathan to marry him.
He stared at the tickets, the tears streaming steadily down his face. He crumbled his setting it in the ashtray "If I live to see the Seven wonders... I'll make a path to the rainbow's end..." he drunkenly muttered the lyrics as he flicked the match setting it in with his ticket. Clutching Jonathan's in his hand. There's another type of pain... The pain of knowing there's nothing he could have done as the men held Jonathan down raping him violently until they deemed him spent and left him on the side of the highway, naked, cold, and worst of all... Alone.
Evan took the cold metal piece in his hand putting it up to his temple, his finger twitched over the trigger and he shook his head setting the metal on his tongue. He squeezed his eyes shut before throwing the gun across the room with a sob.
So long ago
It's a certain time
It's a certain place
You touched my hand and you smiled
All the way back you held out your hand
Evan stood on the edge of the river bank looking over at the blue water. Blue. Jonathan's favorite color. He dropped the cigarette stomping it out with his foot as he took the black box out of his hand opening it to see the blue diamond, it looked like ice, and it gave him a feeling just as cold by looking at it, just like looking into Jonathan's eyes. He held the box over the edge of the bank, he was about to open his hand and let the memory drop and wash away with the tide but a hand grabbed his pulling it down "Don't." a young boy spoke looking him dead in the eye. "It's not what he would have wanted." Evan stared back with wide eyes.
The boy was tan like him with black hair and blue eyes just as if not more piercing than Jonathan's. He blinked and rubbed his eyes and when he opened them, the boy was gone with no footprints in the sand. He felt the tears streaming down his cheeks again and he fell to his knees, he felt a hand on his shoulder looking back. His face was shrouded by the sun making him seem faceless, covered in shadow. But the chestnut hair and black piercing's made him stumble back. At the edge of the bank with no ledge or rope to grab onto he fell feeling the wind rush past him and he hit the cold water like cement and everything went black.
