Evan woke up in the middle of the night, his immediate response was to roll over and nuzzle himself further into the person next to him, but he realized that the bed was empty of anyone other than himself.

He sat up with a furrowed brow, tossing the covers off and getting out of the bed, he walked out of the bedroom and made his way down the hallway. As soon as he stepped foot into the living room he could hear the incessant mumbling and his chest felt slightly heavier as he turned to look into the corner where Jonathan sat, rocking back and forth as he mumbled incoherently and ran his hands through his hair.

Evan sighed lightly and made his way over to the man, slowly as not to frighten him. He crouched down and placed a gentle hand on Jonathan's shoulder and the man immediately jumped, attempting to smack his hand away.

"Hey, hey... it's me, it's me babe," he murmured quietly and Jonathan instantly latched onto him like a small, scared child. "Snow," Jonathan yelped and Evan felt a lump start to well in his throat, but he willed it back and nodded. "Yes, snow, I'm snow," Evan murmured as he helped Jonathan to his feet.

The man trembled almost as much as he mumbled and Evan quickly had him back in bed. Jonathan instantly calmed at the feeling of their sheets balled in his fists and he let out a long sigh as Evan walked to the other side of the bed before climbing in, throwing an arm over Jonathan's waist to keep him from wandering off again.

Fifteen minutes later and Jonathan was peacefully asleep and Evan could help but stare at him. The wrinkles at the corners of his eyes and on his forehead had smoothed out and he almost looked younger than he really was.

Evan pressed a light kiss to his forehead before closing his eyes and falling asleep to the calm sound of Jonathan's breathing.

"I have to go to work today, okay? So Luke and Josephine are gonna stop by in a few hours to check up on you, okay?" he asked and got no response. Jonathan just sat on the couch, staring intently at the TV and the old cartoon playing on it. Evan sighed as he put on his jacket and picked his keys off the ring before walking out the door.

Walking through the doors of the store he turned off his music and excused the other cashier before taking his spot and started his day at work.

Luke gave a light tap on the door before looking at Josie who shrugged with a concerned look in her eyes before reaching for the doorknob, but the click of a lock on the other side made her freeze and when the door opened, Jonathan stood on the other side.

His hair wet and eyes shining as he smiled at his sister and best friend. "Hey guys, what's going on?" he asked with a lopsided smile. Josie looked at Luke with wide eyes and the man suddenly enveloped Jonathan in a tight hug.

"Woah!" Jonathan exclaimed with a huff, "Careful toonz, you might break me in half," he huffed in amusement and looked over at his sister who had tears forming in the corners of her eyes. He tilted his head and furrowed his brows before mouthing 'What's going on?'

But she just shook her head and joined Luke in the embrace.

Evan pulled into the driveway expecting to find Jonathan just where he had left him that morning, but when he opened the door to find Luke and Josephine sitting on the couch and laughing, he had to do a double take.

Things were rocky between them since they lost their son a few years ago, but seeing them laugh together like that was a great nostalgia boost and he almost smiled, until he noticed the severe lack of Jonathan in the room and he started to panic.

"W-where's Jonathan? Is he--what happened? Is he in the..." Evan trailed off when the bathroom door opened and out stepped Jonathan, clean shaven and calm with a beaming smile and blue eyes shining as he walked down the hallway and directly approached him, pressing a quick kiss to his lips. "Welcome home, love."

Evan wanted to cry with joy, but he knew it would only last for a little while, by tomorrow morning Jonathan would be back in his original state and he would be heartbroken. But that doesn't mean he wouldn't enjoy Jonathan's brief moment of lucidness to it's fullest.

He instantly went to grab his camera and they took pictures, pictures for the first time in six months where Jonathan was smiling and lifelike.

It started to fade after he waved off Luke and Josie. They sat down and it only took an hour before Jonathan started to pick at his nails, then the rocking started. At first, it was light, but it increased over time and Evan refused to let him slip away again.

"Hey, hey, Jonathan... Look at me baby, don't do this!" Evan grit out in frustration, "You were doing so good, you... you were back, baby please... don't go--don't go, Jonathan," Evan pleaded, warm tears streaming slowly down his cheeks as Jonathan started to quietly mumble and Evan started sobbing into his shirt, balling the fabric into his fists as he cried.

Evan yelled in anger as he threw the remote across the room. He was tired of this, all of this, he screamed in frustration and punched the wall and vented his anger on other household objects. It was only when Luke walked through the door did he take a small pause before he started crying, Luke was there to pull him into a tight hug as Evan sobbed more.

"Why!? Why can't it just stop, Luke!? I want... I want my damn husband back, I fucking want him back!" Evan screamed, "Why did this have to fucking happen to him, what the fuck did he do to fucking deserve this?!" Evan yelled more as he cried harder,is until his voice was hoarse and his fists were bruised from pounding them onto the hardwood floor as he cried and screamed and tried to claw his way out of Luke's grip, but the older man just held him down until he calmed to hiccups before finally letting go.

Evan sniffled and wiped the still wet tears away before standing up shakily and began picking up the mess that he had made.

Luke could only watch as everything unfolded for the second time, Evan would throw pictures, stomp on brochures and tear them up, he would scream and then throw something else until the tears stopped coming and Luke finally guided him to bed.

And when Josie dropped Jonathan off later that night, he had just finished cleaning up the house, he pulled off Jonathan's shoes and jacket before guiding him down the hall to the bedroom where Evan was still asleep.

He let Jonathan clumsily walk to his side of the bed and roll onto the sheets without tucking under the blanket. Luke watched as he stared at Evan before reaching out with a shaking hand and taking one of Evan's bandaged knuckled between his fingers.

"D-delirious..." Luke heard him mumbled, "Del-irious. Loves. S-s-snow..." he stuttered before laying down next to Evan. Luke slowly back out of the room, closing the door behind him before exiting the house and letting the two sleep.
