Tyler knew the moment that he and Craig met the younger man had put him on a high pedestal. They were instant friends. Like two pea's in a pod, and he could tell that Craig immediately looked up to him and Tyler dreaded that because he knew that someday he would let Craig down just like he does to everybody in his life.

He dreaded that inevitability even more when he started to fall for the younger man and he almost fell off that pedestal when Craig told him that he loved him. But if Craig was just looking up to him before, Tyler figured he must worship him now.

It was like trying to balance on a fine point with no support. Craig did love him, that was evident in everything he did for him. But Tyler's not the superhuman Craig makes him out to be, to himself he's hopeless but to Craig, he's full of it. Tyler's only getting his hopes up but he knows at some point, he's going to let him down, fall face first off that pedestal Craig has him so high on.

He's going to make a horrible mistake that's only going to leave Craig hoping. And he did. Tyler hadn't meant for it to happen, but Craig was away for a few days visiting his parents, and he was out with friends, bored, a little sad, and drunk, and he regrets it so much because he knew he had already fallen the moment he woke up and it wasn't Craig in the bed with him.

He ushered the woman out of the apartment as quickly as he could and spent the rest of that day pacing around the house, pulling at his hair and chewing his nails to the quick because Craig would be coming home the next day and Tyler knows he won't even be able to look into his boyfriend's eyes knowing he's betrayed him like this.

"Hey babe," Craig smiled happily as he wrapped his arms around Tyler's middle. Tyler smiled back and returned the hug, one last hug before he ruins both their lives. The drive home was quiet.

Craig was happily humming along to the songs that played on the radio and Tyler couldn't stop taking small glances at him. He loved Craig, hell he wanted to spend the rest of his life with him and they had only been together for a year but he was sure. But Tyler knew that dream would be shattered when they got home.

Tyler watched as Craig set his bags on the bed and he inhaled deeply and sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Craig," he said distressfully. Craig looked up at him and his brows scrunched in concern as he walked over to him, cupping his face lightly. "What is it, Ty?" he asked, "You look distressed," he frowned.

Tyler shook his head, taking a few steps back and putting his face in his hands. "I... I cheated," he choked out. He couldn't see Craig's face but he heard him. "What?" Craig asked, his voice cracked and the bed creaked as he sat down on it. "I slept with someone else," Tyler admitted, wiping his eyes and looking at him. "I-I don't know why I did it, I was drunk, bored, and missing you and it just... it just happened."

Craig was looking down at his feet, his hands balled together as his head hung low. After a long silence, Tyler spoke again. "C-Craig...? Say something."

It took another moment before he heard Craig as he sniffled before looking back up at him with watery eyes. "I...I don't know..." Craig said calmly, shaking his head lightly and stood up looking into his eyes.

"What do you want me to say? That I'm angry? Because I am. But I don't hate you, I don't think we should break up. I... I understand. I knew that one of us was bound to fuck up at some point, Tyler! You're human, I'm human! We have a tendency to fuck up every once in a while! I'm not saying that I feel like I can fully trust or forgive you at the moment, but... I understand, okay? I know that you didn't do it on purpose, but that still doesn't mean I'm not hurt. But still I..." he trailed before getting up from his spot and lightly cupping Tyler's face again, "I still love you."

Tyler sighed in relief and nodded, wrapping and arm around his shoulders. "I love you too. I will do everything I can to show you that."

Craig nodded. "Work for it, for me, for my forgiveness. Show me that I can give you a second chance without coming to regret it."

"I will. I would do anything for you."
