1. After The Second Slaughter

Moon's POV

It's been several years since I've last seen or heard about the others who were active before the second slaughter by the Black King, the man who ruled over the kingdom against all laws. Yet no one dared to protest or refuse his orders as he killed them all. And some of them were very precious, to me as well. My little cousin, Makoro Ichigo, a boy with a very old age died during those times for he couldn't be saved by his immortality. But he wasn't the only one that left my heart broken. Monsta Monsta, the servant and loyal butler of my father Man in the Moon passed away as well as he protected my father by keeping his location with him as a secret to the grave. Three of the six of the Magical Knights died as well in battle against the Black King, Dagmar, Lunatico and Shikaru. It was hard news to get, Eugene left the village short after hearing so, to travel back to his hometown. Kawacy on the other hand, he never came outside ever since. He refused to talk, refused to live healthy and often skipped meals. He cried at night to never close his eyes, he grew pale and unbelievable thin. If it wasn't for us to keep an eye on him, he'd be dead already. But I think the whole kingdom more suffered from the passing of our precious king and his wife. A while after the first slaughter, Echo met Malaria of the North, a princess who lived in the Harmony Village, far away from here, the Tokiya Village in the west. It was like love at first sight between those two as they grew very close, they got engaged shortly after. The news spread fast across the kingdom and got the people excited. After all, it was the first time since the first slaughter good news was shared, someone moved on and held hope. They married in secret on a secret location to keep the Black King from interupting in one of the forgotten churches in the east to live together afterwards here in Tokiya Village. They wanted to continue on and even if the Black King still ruled, Malaria became pregnant with their first child who was named Heathen Taka Link with the meaning of takeru-kun as father, companion. He was a very social child, a little bundle of joy. He got everyone to smile and was very certain of himself, loved by us all. He was extremely powerful as well, as he got the magic of his father : controling dead. He got his main protector at the age of four, which is very rare and early. Other protectors followed, but they came from the underworld. In total he achieved 5 protectors, 1 a twin, in less than a year. He kept them all as keys around his neck. He made his parents very proud and as little Heathen was five years old, Malaria was pregnant with their second child named Kimi Yoshi Link with the meaning  kimiyoshi as justice, righteous. The two brothers were nothing alike and that was known by everyone very fast. Kimi showed no signs of magic, he had none and was seen as a disgrace, a curse and a monster by everyone because of it. Often you heard the villagers asking how come Kimi could be Heathens brother and how come Kimi was a son of Echo. Even so, Kimi was a lovely child with an amazing personality, loved and adored by both his parents only. He was honest, if he lied, he felt guilty right away and without knowing, he touched his skin, which was a funny fact about him. He was calm, not active and didn't have as much energy as Heathen, though he was much smarter. He liked books a lot, music and the nature. He often lied outside, staring the clouds and when you'd ask him what he did, he said he thought about future, fantasized and imagined what the clouds could be. He was a deep thinker and even if nobody let him in, Echo and Malaria were just as proud of Kimi as of Heathen. But the happily family interaction was short for Echo and Malaria got killed by the Black King in front of their childeren's eyes, who he for some reason let live. They were left alone, in their house, crying and suffering by the dead bodies of their parents. Athough Heathen never cried, maybe because he earned his father protector named Harvard who was originally a human boy named Jeffrey Lockwood who gave his body to give form to the protector, not a single tear and people saw it as strenght, while Kimi, who cried a lot from sadness, was seen as weak and poor. For I was the one who find them, I was the one who took them in. Together with Lili, the royal princess of the Shaw family and my friend who became my wife short after the marriage of Echo and Malaria, we raised the two boys together with our own child, our daughter named Star Knight. All three grew as beautiful and powerful childeren, yet Kimi remained without magic. It got him hated by everyone and as he turned ten, he suddenly vanished. Lili and I searched for him everywhere we could think of, we never found him again. Heathen on the other side, who's now nineteen, still lives with us. He's like a warrior, loved yet made enemies and a very strong power that he thinks nobody can defeat. Star, who fell in love with him, became his girlfriend shortly after she confessed her love to him. Lili, my wife, and I approved, yet kept an eye on them 'cause after all, Heathen could be very selfish and certain about his strenght, yet he had his weaknesses as well. You see, at the age of sixteen he took in a young boy Aku who he found hopeless, homeless and parentless on the streets outside. And although it was my house, I approved. Aku was a silent boy, always in his own wolrd with his own thoughts. His magic was to heal people in the blink of an eye, making him a medical wizard. Star, who earned her mothers magic, teached the little Aku everything she knew for she was a medical wizard herself. From the body, to the mind, she knew all of it and that made me proud. We were what was seen as the healthy and wealthy and nice family with a big future, mostly because everyone believed Heathen would be the one defeating the Black King someday. But Lili and I were aware, this wasn't  the case and maybe Star noticed so to. Their sweet hero, he was selfish and rather unaware of his weaknesses, he thought he was unstopable. He was blinded by attention and anything of that kind. He was not a bad kid, not at all, but he had much to learn. Aku, that little kid, he prefered him over his own brother who he hated deeply, something me and Lili could not stand. We ordered him, if he could not speak about Kimi with respect, he shall say nothing in our house and with our presence. Kimi suffered and was victim, not the enemy. But we were all aware, those from my generation, the world changed. There were no smiles as there were before. There was hate, fear, insecurity, murder, execution, anything that didn't belong. So until someone found the power and courage, who was brave to stand up for all those in the kingdom and actually defeated the Black King, we all lived in silent so the Black King could not hear us speak as we hoped and prayed for a savior.
