Lili's POV
"Did you hear about the new kid, Lili?", my friend Thomas asked as soon as we met up after school. I threw him a smile telling him a clear 'yes' as we made our way towards the train station. "Of course I have, everybody's talking about him nowadays. I wonder why though." He looked at me, but took his gaze fast from me to stare to the ground. "You're acting strange, something happened between the two of you?" His green eyes looked kind of sad while his blond hair got blown from before his face by the upcoming wind. The bag thrown over his shoulder seemed heavy, fitting with his jeans and the yellow-like shirt he was wearing today. He shrugged, staring at his front, making him even seem more absent. "We had a little encounter", he began his story with a tone of pure upsetting steam. "He saved me from Kenny earlier and when I saw him at lunch on his own, I wanted to thank him. But whatever I tried to say, he doesn't care at all. I don't even know his name." "So you think he doesn't care about you, am I correct?" He nodded, looking away in shame which made me smile softly. Thomas was a sensitive boy when it came to feelings and the opinion of someone else. When someone told him or let him know by their actions he wasn't worth it, he was heartbroken. But most of the times it were misunderstandings 'cause he took things the wrong way as consequence of the bullying he went trough. It was one of the reasons why not a lot of people took the risk, yet, those who did take it were able to find out that he wasn't such a bad kid.
"Is that why you're upset?" He shook his head, continuing to explain. "He thought I offended him which I didn't, it was an accident. He started threatening with his father, telling me it was just a warning and when I asked him if we could be friends, he told me to call him by his name the next time we met and he would." He took a breath and sighed. "I just don't understand it anymore. He's just so... so... so mysterious and closed, y'know? I can't tell if he's serious or just kidding." I nodded and thought about it, recalling what I heard from the other girls who were talking about him, even if they never met their 'prince charming'. "You know, why don't you do so? Even if he's kidding, he can't back away right? He said it, you just did it, so he has to be your friend."
"But what if he doesn't want to? I mean, I'll be just a burden to him anyway..." I stopped walking and took him by the shoulders, shaking him. "Are you even listening to yourself, little man? A burden? A great guy like you, everyone wants to be friends with you. They are just afraid to say so in public. Why do people bully? 'Cause they are jalous!" He looked into my hazel-like eyes and giggled softly. "YouTuber GreenFive?" "No, Google+'er Reason Opening." We both laughed softly, remembering my strange obsession with social media and it's users. But it also came in handy in certain situations where you needed information or some good words of courage and hope, something I wasn't that good at. "So back to the subject, what are you gonna do about it?" His smile remained as he thought, staring to the clouds as if the answer was written in the air. "I think I'm gonna do as he told me to", he said with a soft giggle that could barely be heard. "I am gonna find his name and greet him with it the next time we meet." But his smile suddenly changed into a frown as he rubbed the back of his head. "If I only knew his name though..."
"Maybe you should ask someone else who does know." He looked at me with a : "Do you?" and I nodded. "Fangirls know best and he has a lot walking around at school. I checked him online and didn't find anything actually, it's like he just came up all of the sudden as if he never existed before today. There's no evidence he lived, making it hard to find him. On top of that, people speaking of him online call him Child of the Moon. Don't ask me why, but it's like he has some kind of history nobody knows about. He's mysterious, just my type, I can tell you that one." A little laugh escaped my lips, making him roll his eyes. "Alright, alright. I'll shut up." We both smilled, reaching the train station. "Next time you see him, just call him that and you'll be fine. If he asks, just tell him he should be careful with fangirls, they're everywhere." I winked. Thomas looked confussed but before he could answer, I nodded to my front, where the new kid was waiting and staring at the cloudy sky.
We closed in on the boy standing on his own and looked him in the eye as soon as he noticed us. I stole a fast glance from my friend, who seemed to be getting nervous so I poked him, whispering softly : "Moon, that's what you need." I smilled, assuring him things would go just fine, before we actually stood in front of the other male. "Nice seeing you again... M-Moon", Thomas told him with a stutter barely heard. He just nodded and stared back up at the sky, making the both of us look up to even when there was nothing to be seen. A new bruise could slightly be seen in his neck now he watched to the highest thing on the planet, making me wonder where he got it from. "Now you'll be my friend, right?" The high hope from my friend was noticed by all of those listening as the boy now known as Moon just nodded, not saying a single word. Why wasn't he speaking to us?
