Nikko awoke just in time to stop Rima from rebuilding the seal. The jounin looked to her son when he grabbed her wrist. "What are you doing?" she asked.
"Don't," Nikko said.
"Nikko, whatever he said, he's lying to you," Rima said.
"I trust Kurama," Nikko said.
"Kurama," Rima asked.
"That's his name," Nikko said, "Let me put it this way, rebuild the seal all you want, I'll just keep breaking it."
Rima sighed. "You're my son alright," she said, "Stubborn boy." She ruffled Nikko's hair. "Okay, break the seal if you want. Just. . . make sure I'm close." Nikko practically jumped for joy.
"Did you hear, Kurama?" Nikko said inside his psyche.
"I did," the fox said. He's not acting like himself. Not since Ukimora died. "Go ahead and open it."
"Okay," Nikko said, "Quick question. How do I do that?"
Kurama sighed and explained to Nikko how to open the seal. When the boy did so, he burst out of the gate. Nikko fell to the ground with a grunt and Kurama prepared a tailed-beast bomb. However, when he saw the look of fear and betrayal on Nikko's face, he stopped.
"I can't do this to you," Kurama said, "I'm sorry."
Nikko pushed himself to his feet with a scowl. "I'm such a loser," he said, "Kurama, what now?"
The fox stood still for a moment. He eyed Nikko critically. "I've got room to move now," he said as he walked around, "Thank you."
"Seal's broken," Nikko said as he stood up.
Rima slightly shook her head and blinked. "Say what now?" she asked.
"Kurama just wanted more room to move around," said Nikko.
Rima sighed. "Come then," she said, "It's time to train you. You saw the bracket; whoever wins between you and Hanime will face Dosu and they're both dangerous. You'll need a new technique, one other than Flying Raijin."
Nikko grinned broadly. "A new technique?" he asked, "What is it?"
Rima held her hand out and focused her chakra to it. Her chakra began to become visible. First a fireball began to appear in the palm of her hand. Then, ice began to stick out like spikes and the flame became blue. "Kakashi tells me you've used fire, wind, and water jutsu," she said, "This here is a variation of Elemental Ruin that uses those three called Elemental Fury."
"Elemental fury?" Nikko asked, "How do I use it?"
"We'd best get out to the training field before you try it," Rima said, "Follow me."
"Wait," Nikko said, "I can teleport us to the place where I learned Flying Raijin." Now that the cage's open, I feel stronger than ever, he thought.
Rima shrugged. "Okay, let's go," she said.
Meanwhile, Hanime paused as Gaara stepped into his path. He smirked, "You wanna try me?"
"Gaara, no," Temari said, "You'll get to fight him in the exams."
"Blood," Gaara whispered.
"You want to feel how much damage my blood can do, huh?" Hanime asked.
Baki cut in. "Stop it, Gaara," he said, "You will fight this boy soon enough." He then switched to a whisper. "Remember the plan."
Plan? Hanime thought, What plan? He clapped his hands. "Well, this has been fun, but I've got places to be." And a meeting with a certain scorpion.
