The Sharingan's Genjutsu

Nikko stepped into line, the last person to enter the arena besides Sasuke. The bracket had changed. Whoever won between Nikko and hanime would advance to the final match and it would be a three person battle.

"Contenders of the first match stay here. Everyone else go wait at the competitor's area," Genma said.

Naruto and Neji stayed in the arena while Nikko and the others proceeded to their waiting area. Come on, Naruto, Nikko thought, You can do it.

Nikko visibly facepalmed when Naruto rushed straight in. "Why?" he asked, "Why doesn't he use his head?" He was surprised when Naruto summoned forth the nine-tails' chakra. The blue-haired Uchiha was disappointed when he saw Neji pull himself from the crater, but his attitude changed when Naruto burst from the ground and knocked Neji down.

The match ended and Genma announced the next match. However, Sasuke didn't show up. He was shocked when Genma announced the postponement. Then, his match was called.

He jumped over the railing and landed gently on the ground. Hanime followed, albeit by taking the stairs. The duo met in the arena, eyes locked.

Genma sensed the bloodlust between them. This is going to get ugly, he thought. "You two ready?" Nikko and Hanime nodded. "Begin!"

Hanime began by pulling a scroll from his bag of tools. Nikko narrowed his eyes and scattered his marked kunai across the arena. "Flying raijin won't save you in this match," Hanime said, "Neither will your Sharingan."

Nikko formed the horse hand sign. "Is that so?" he asked, "Fire Style: Majestic Destroyer Flame!"

Hanime made the snake hand sign and the flames parted around his barrier. Nikko smirked and transported himself to the kunai inside the barrier. However, upon doing so, Nikko gasped and fell to his knees. Blood began to fall from his eyes, ears, and nose.

With a smirk, Hanime approached Nikko and picked up the boy's kunai. "My shield is unique," he said, "Anyone who touches or enters it will have their blood drained from their body." He put the kunai to Nikko's throat. "Die."

Nikko transported himself out of the barrier, landing sprawled on his back. Panting, he pushed himself up. "Damn you," he said, "Let's see if your barrier can withstand this." He took just enough chakra for Kurama not to notice and hurled raw chakra at the barrier. It began to crack beneath the pressure of Nikko's attack.

Hanime used the Blood Mist jutsu and sneaked out from his barrier. Nikko was there to meet him. He brought his arms up just in time to block Nikko's attack. The redhead slid across the ground, his feet carving grooves into the ground.

Hanime tossed the scroll into the air and formed a tiger hand sign. The scroll disappeared in a puff of smoke and in its place was a prototype Sasori puppet.

Hiruzen leaned forward. "That's Sasori of the Red Sand," he said.

"Turn to ash," Hanime said as he brought Sasori's arms up.

Tiger, snake, rat, snake, tiger, Nikko thought, Water Style: Water Wall. As the wall of water formed, Nikko formed more hand signs. Rat, rabbit, dog, he thought, Wind Style: Vacuum Wave.

Hanime grit his teeth as the Sasori puppet's arms came off. So I will have to use blood style, he thought. He slid his fingernails across his palm, cutting it open.

Nikko's wall fell. I've used enough chakra already, he thought, I need to end this while I can. He held a palm toward the sky and began to form Elemental Fury.

The redhead looked to the jutsu in his opponent's hand. Interesting, he thought. His blood took the shape of a sphere around his hand.

Nikko transported himself to the kunai at Hanime's feet and swung his Elemental Fury at him. Hanime sidestepped Nikko's attack and shoved his hand through Nikko's back. The young Uchiha screamed in pain as Hanime's hand went all the way through his body, in his back and out his stomach.

Nikko fell off of Hanime's hand, dead.

Hanime gasped as Nikko's hand emerged from his chest, inches away from the boy's heart. "How?" he asked.

"Genjutsu," Nikko said. His corpse became a murder of crows and the birds took to the sky, circling overhead.

"You got the whole arena?" Hanime asked as he stumbled away from Nikko.

"No," Nikko said, "just you."

"When did you do it?" Hanime asked.

"As soon as we began our match," Nikko said, "Although, I swapped myself out with the illusion the second you sidestepped my attack. Flying Raijin did save me, after all." The crows all dove toward Hanime. Of course, he didn't know they were kunai. Are you proud, Itachi, he thought, I learned this genjutsu from you, after all.

Hanime gasped and struggled against the genjutsu. Despite how hard he tried to disturb his chakra, he couldn't escape the genjutsu. Impossible, Hanime thought, Nobody can hold me under a genjutsu. Nobody can beat me!

Nikko smiled, ending the genjutsu, and Hanime cried out in pain as the kunai embedded themselves inside the redhead. Hanime fell to the ground and found himself unable to get up.

"Nikko Uchiha is the winner," Genma said.

Nikko collected his kunai and teleported out of the arena. He appeared in the ANBU headquarters. Upon doing so, he took a food pill and donned his ANBU gear, cloak included. Orders are orders, he thought as he left and headed toward the arena.

Nikko arrived before Hiruzen just in time to see Shikamaru's match begin. "Reporting in," he said, "No suspicious activity around the arena.

"Good," Hiruzen said, "Oh, starting tomorrow you're an ANBU captain."

Nikko bowed. "Thank you, Lord Third," he said. Itachi became a captain when he was my age. I'm catching up to you, Elder Brother. He jumped down to the spectator area and took a seat behind Choji.

The blue-haired ANBU was surprised when Shikamaru forfeit. He stopped himself from sighing when he saw Kakashi and Sasuke's arrival. So flashy, he thought.

When Kakashi arrived at the stands, he counted the ANBU. "Nine," he said, "Nine ANBU in an arena this size? What is Lord Hokage thinking? That's not nearly enough."

Nikko ignored the comment and watched for threats. He was surprised when Sasuke revealed Chidori. Impressive, he thought.

Then, Nikko saw the feathers falling from the sky. Genjutsu, he thought, Sharingan! Next, came the explosion from the Kage's seating area.
