Hanime knelt beside Nikko, ignoring the ANBU. He pulled a kunai from his gear and held it to Nikko's throat. "Look at you," he whispered, brushing Nikko's hair from his eyes, "so vulnerable. I can kill you so easily."
He took the kunai from Nikko's throat. "But I won't. Don't worry." He clapped his hand to Nikko's cheek. "You've got so much to teach me first." He made a small incision in his finger and let a few drops of his blood fall into Nikko's wound.
Upon picking Nikko's almost lifeless body, he turned toward the spectator areas. He carried Nikko to Rima. "He's in critical condition," Hanime said, you're a medical ninja, right?"
Rima nodded and looked grimly at her son. She knelt down and went to work healing his wounds. "I'll focus on him," she said, "You go hunt down any enemies that haven't fled the village yet. Kill them."

Several days later, Nikko and Hanime attended the funeral. Nikko had almost made a full recovery by the time the funeral came around. He continuously checked for an attack, despite the somber occasion.
However, it wasn't just the threat of attack that had him on edge. It was his eyesight. When he held his hand out before him at arm's length, he could barely make out all his fingers. I need to slow down with the Mangekyou, he thought as he sensed around for threats with his chakra.
The funeral went as funerals do, depressing and uneventful. Hanime trailed after Nikko. "Hey, you," he said.
Nikko glanced to him, "Do you need something?"
"I want you to train me," Hanime said, clenching his fists.
"I haven't got the time," Nikko said, "besides, people might get the wrong idea if they see a child following me around."
"I can change that part," Hanime said, "Horse, ox, rabbit, snake. Blood Style: Hemoglobin Age Seal Release." The boy aged from an eight-year-old to a twelve-year-old in the matter of half a minute.
Nikko blinked and shook his head, trying to comprehend what he'd just seen. "Okay then," he said, "I've still got work to do."
"No worries," Hanime said, his voice slightly deeper, "I'll wait."
"The kid's persistent, I'll give him that," Kurama said, "Are you going to forgive him for killing Ukimora?"
"Yes," Nikko said, turning around to face Kurama, "Ukimora wouldn't want me to hold a grudge."
"Does that mean you're not going to kill Itachi?" Kurama picked his head up.
"Itachi's death will be punishment for breaking the law," Nikko said, "In the context of Ukimora's death, his death was allowed as it was stated in the chunin exams. There was no such rule in place when Itachi slaughtered my clan."
Kurama laughed, "You've got a strange way of looking at things."
Nikko shrugged, "So what if I do?"
Oh, nothing," Kurama said, "You just remind me of someone."
"Very well, Hanime," Nikko said, "Just wait in the training field then."
Hanime smiled, "Alright!" He rushed toward the training field.
Nikko finished his trek to the ANBU headquarters. He received his captain's gear and tried it on. Satisfied with how it fit, he took it off and stored it in his assigned locker.
The blue-haired Uchiha promptly teleported to the training field. Hanime had just arrived when Nikko made an appearance.
Hanime made the first move, throwing a kunai at Nikko. Nikko raised an eyebrow and plucked the blade from the air. "That's it?" he asked.
He then sensed a familiar presence. "Itachi," Nikko whispered.
He teleported to his ANBU gear, donned it all, and rushed toward Itachi's chakra signature.

Itachi sighed when an ANBU captain arrived at the battlefield. "We've been here too long," he said.
"Kakashi," said the captain, "You've done well. I'll handle these two from here on out." He pulled a pair of kunai from his sleeves and rushed Itachi.
Itachi dodged the first two attacks. A shadow clone of Itachi's threw a trio of kunai at the captain. The captain whirled around and blocked the kunai. That's when the paper bombs attached to them were revealed.
"Boom," said Itachi.
The ANBU captain emerged from the flames with a cracked mask. The captain landed next to the shadow clone, a clone that exploded soon thereafter.
The captain appeared next to a kunai he'd thrown just before the explosion. He plucked the kunai from the air and landed with his back to Itachi. The captain slowly turned around, revealing who he was.
Nikko stood between Itachi and Kisame, Sharingan activated.
"Nikko," said Itachi.
Nikko activated his Mangekyou Sharingan. "You said to find you when I had the same eyes, Elder Brother," he said, "I've done it."
Itachi activated his own Mangekyou. "So you have," he said.
"This boy has the Mangekyou Sharingan?" Kisame asked, "I thought all the Uchiha were wiped out. Killed by you, Itachi."
"I pitied my brothers and let them live," said Itachi, "Kisame, we should go. Fighting Nikko would take time. More importantly, it would draw attention. We're not here to fight a full-scale battle."
"Aw, just when things were starting to get fun," Kisame said.
Itachi covered their escape with smoke bombs. By the time the smoke cleared, the Akatsuki pair was gone.
