The Paper Swans

"With this, you die," Nikko said, activating his Mangekyou Sharingan, "Kenro."

The area around Itachi went pitch black. Itachi's eyes widened and he released Sasuke's throat. "So you've found us again, have you?" Itachi asked.

"Nikko," Sasuke whispered.

Nikko formed an elemental fury. "Fudo," he said. All went silent.

Itachi sidestepped the attack and kicked Nikko in the side. Nikko, unprepared for the attack, felt his ribs break under the pressure of the kick.

He crashed into the wall, kicking up debris. The young Uchiha pushed himself up and tried again. Itachi caught Nikko's wrist. "My eyes are still stronger than yours, little brother," he said, "Your jutsu has no effect on me."

Nikko smiled and locked eyes with Itachi. "Very well then," he said, "Let's see whose eyes are stronger."

"Mangekyou Sharingan," the Uchiha brothers said at the same time.

Yakama approached the Hidden Leaf. A paper swan flew above her, hidden by the clouds. Her Hidden Rain headband, symbol marked out by a scratch, put the Leaf Shinobi on edge.

"What brings a Hidden Rain ninja to the Leaf?" the Chunin guarding the gate asked.

The paper swan turned into a paper shuriken and flew into the Chunin's throat. The second she stepped into the village, she could feel her presence known.

"Shikigami Dance," she said. She turned into a few dozen scraps of paper which then folded into paper swans. She then flew toward the Hokage building. She flew into the window of the Hokage's office to find Rima standing at the doorway.

"I had a feeling you'd come here," Rima said, "Are you after Nikko?"

"I am, Rima," Yakama said, "Where is he?"

"You're not even part of the Akatsuki. Why do you want my son?"

"He is both Uchiha and Uzumaki," Yakama said, "He has the potential to unlock the Rinnegan. Pain can't allow someone like that to live."

Rima pulled a kunai from her pack of tools. "You'll have to get through me then."

Yakama closed her eyes. "I figured you'd say that." She grew paper wings and started to float. "My mother told me to kill you if you got in the way."

"It seems Konan and I need to have a talk then," Rima said, taking her ready stance.

Itachi stood above a barely conscious Nikko. "Foolish little brother," he said, "My eyes proved to be stronger."

"Toad Stomach Jutsu!" Jiraiya said.

Nikko struggled to his feet. "I'm not giving up," he gasped.

Itachi kicked Nikko aside. "Kisame, let's go."

The Akatsuki duo rushed away.

Yakama felt her chakra draining quickly. Her battle with Rima had drawn too much attention and Guy had joined the battle. She turned back into paper swans and flew away.

"Tell Konan that my son is now under my protection," Rima said as Yakama flew away.

"Who was that?" Guy asked.

"A rogue ninja from the Hidden Rain," Rima said, "I have to go."
