Jealous

Julie dreaded P.E that Monday. She didn't want Romeo ask Rosie out. Romeo and Rosie... Their names together just didn't seem to have the right ring to them. They just didn't fit!

Eventually the period of dread arrived. Julie hated the sinking feeling that had filled her stomach as Rosie approached Romeo. It made her feel like there was something truly out of place in the universe.

Rosie's brown pigtails bounced as she skipped and her hazel eyes glimmered with hope. She was a very persistent girl.

Julie crossed her arms and couldn't help but glare that the other girl from across the room. She had never had a problem with Rosie before. She had gone to school with Julie since sixth grade and had always been rather sweet to everyone. But this year when Romeo returned she seems a little too interested in him. And Julie couldn't help but dislike it.

A familiar mane of red hair popped up besides the blonde and watched with a mildly amused face on her face.

"You're jealous." Ivy chimed.

"Of what? Why should I be jealous? Why would I be jealous?" Julie slowly moved closer, to hear Romeo and Rosie.

"Generally glaring at someone as they talk to your boyfriend is a good sign."

"He's not my boyfriend, Ivy! And he never was." Julie huffed.

She could hear Rosie and Romeo now, but was far enough away to not look too suspicious, or at least she wouldn't have if she wasn't still crossing her arms and glaring.

"So, Romeo, I know I've asked you a couple times and I know I probably should give up, but do you maybe want to get some frozen yogurt some time?" Rosie sounded hopefully, but also like she knew she was going to get shot down.

Give up... The words echoed through his mind as she spoke them. He glanced behind the short, pigtailed girl to see Julie glaring. He knew instantly that she was unhappy. He hated to see her like that. Did he really have to give up on her? Was she really a lost cause? Could he really never be with her?

He did have to give up on her. She didn't like him. What was the use of making even more of a fool out of himself?

"Sure, when?" Romeo stated.

"I underst- wait what?" Rosie said.

"I said sure, when?" Romeo repeated.

Julie didn't know how to react. Part of her wanted to punch something and part of her wanted to cry. She hated the stupid feeling that bubbled inside her, eating her.

"Really?" Rosie's eyes went wide. Romeo nodded. "You're awesome, Romeo!" She squealed. "How's Wednesday at six?"

Romeo shrugged. "Works for me."

"Eep!" Rosie squealed some more.

Juliet actually did punch the bleacher as Rosie wrapped her arms around the youngest Cameron.

"Jules, are you okay?" Ivy wondered.

Julie was fuming. "I don't know." She hissed. She excused herself to use the locker room. Ivy, without even talking to the teacher like Julie had, followed her in.

Julie broke down. "Stupid Cameron. I can't believe he- why can't he just- ugh!" She sat down on one locker room's benches.

"Aw, Jules, you're jealous." Ivy teased.

"I'm not jealous." Julie gritted her teeth. "There's no reason for me to be." She crossed her arms with a 'humph!'

"I can think of a reason." Ivy slid next to her. "You love him."

"No chance. No way! Ivy, I can't believe that you would think that."

"Who you think you're kidding? He's the earth and heaven to you!" Ivy sang, teasing.

"Ivy!" Julie's face was bright red in a flash. Ivy laughed. Julie glared. "My life is becoming a cliché." She whined.

"You can't deny it anymore. You love him."

Julie had to admit that she liked Cameron. That gross feeling in her stomach only could be jealousy. It had to be. She was jealous. She sighed, still red.

"Okay, I don't know about love, but I can't keep denying that I have feelings for Romeo. He's on my mind 24/7." Julie rested her head in her hands. "I'm pathetic." She sighed.

"No you're not." Ivy stated.

"Yes I am! I'm letting myself become some sort of boy obsessed, love sick fool!" Julie groaned.

"Maybe... Maybe that's okay." Ivy said. "Listen we may be stupid high schoolers, but maybe you and Cameron are meant to be. Maybe you guys could go the distance." Ivy sighed.

"You're crazy, Ivy. It's just something I can get over. It's nothing. It's like an illness. I'll get better eventually." Julie took a deep breath in.

"Love sick isn't the same as an actual illness. How long have you been trying to get over Cameron?" Ivy stood up and placed her hands on her hips.

Julie blushed. "Okay maybe this is bad."

"You think? You've got it bad." Ivy stated.

Julie groaned. Why Romeo? Why? Why did she have to have feelings for him? Why did he have to try to get over her? Why did he have to go out with Rosie?
