"Listen, Julie, before you say anything I've got something I need to admit." Romeo stated, nervously. Julie tucked a blonde strand of hair behind her ear, her eye lashes fluttering with anxiousness.
"Yes?"
"I like you, okay? I really like you. More than a friend. All those pick up lines, all that teasing, everything was because I liked you!" He took a step closer towards Julie so that there was hardly a foot between them. "And I haven't stopped."
"You haven't? Even when you said you were done?" Julie wondered.
Neither of them realized how quiet the common area had became. Their friends and even plenty of classmates were watching them as if it was the end of a theater's most popular romantic comedy.
"Of course I haven't! How could anyone move on from you, Julie? You're the most interesting, sweet, beautiful, amazing girl I've ever met. I know that sounds cheesy, but I don't care." Romeo cupped her face with his hands. "I like Juliet Hero Hunter."
Julie opened her mouth to speak, to tell him how she felt in return but words didn't exit her mouth when a shrill ringing echoed. Never had the bell been more unwelcome.
Julie frowned at Romeo, disliking being interrupted. She quickly threw off his hoodie before handing it to him.
"We'll have to talk later. I can't be late to first period again or I'll get detention." Julie gave Romeo a sad smile. She really wanted to just kiss him.
They weren't given the opportunity to talk first or second period, despite the fact that they had second period together. Mrs. Viens separated them, banishing Romeo to the back where his actual partner, Anthony, was and made Juliet stay up front with Emily.
Third period they didn't have together so nothing could be done there.
Fourth period was a different situation.
Romeo slid into his regular seat, next to Julie. He smiled at her as she glanced at him. His grin was contagious. Julie couldn't resist smiling back.
As Mr. Harvey began to talk about their upcoming test Romeo pulled a piece of paper out. He scribbled something on it before tossing it onto Julie's desk.
So you know how I feel. What do you want to say?
Mr. Harvey hates when we do this! We can't pass notes in class anymore!
She tossed it back.
Julieeeeeeee, it's killing me waiting! I just want to be with you!
You want an answer now?
Yes!
I LIKE YOU, ROMEO CAMERON! I thought it was obvious. How many times have I wanted to kiss you? Do you know how hard it is to resist it sometimes? I want to date you, you doofus!
I'm glad we've both finally said that.
That felt nice to get off my chest.
When did you start to feel this way?
Remember when we had to read the balcony scene? That's when I started to realize it.
So will you?
Will I what? You're going to have to be a little more specific, Captain Doofus.
Romeo rolled his eyes.
Will you, Juliet Hero Hunter, be my girlfriend?
Butterflies in her stomach and sunshine in her grin. Julie smiled at Romeo as she read those words. He grinned back, hopefully. Julie rushed to scribble a reply back.
I would lo-
"Juliet, could you please hand over that note?"
Julie's smile vanished. She should have known they were going to get caught! She slowly handed the note over to her favorite teacher. He unfolded it and scanned it's contents.
"You may finish your discussion after class. Now like I was saying the test will include the Latin roots you've learned as well as questions on this years reading material. If anyone wishes to reread Romeo and Juliet or Fahrenheit 451 to study there are copies in the library." The teacher stated, as Julie finally began to listen.
Once the bell rung Romeo rushed over Julie immediately. There was a spring in his step and hope in his tone.
"So what's your answer?" Romeo wondered as they exited the classroom.
Julie smiled. "You really want an answer?"
Romeo nodded. Julie's smile widened. She turned to him, throwing her arms around his neck. Ignoring that they were standing in the middle of a crowded hallway she pressed her lips against his. She didn't care that people were staring.
Romeo's green eyes went wide with surprise, but he kissed her back. It felt so... Right. It was as if kissing, more specifically kissing her, was something he had been missing his entire life. His heart was pounding like a drum in his chest and he knew hers was beating the same.
After a few seconds that felt like an eternity, Julie pulled back. Her turquoise eyes seemed to sparkle with joy.
"Does that answer your question?"
Romeo's heart skipped a beat and he smirked. "Actually I think you need to tell me again. Just to be sure."
