"How are you so awake all the time?" I asked, feeling like a zombie.

"I have been doing this for years" he said, carrying a basket of clothes.

"Have you seen the king yet?" I asked.

"No, he's not in his chambers though...I know that" he said.

"How am I supposed to be his servant, when I don't even know where he is?!" I asked.

"I do not know, he's a very secret and guarded person, nobody really knows anything about him anymore" he sighed, setting the basket on the ground.

"I should go prepare his breakfast" I mumbled, walking through the halls to get to the kitchen. But before I could walk in, someone grabbed my wrist. I whipped around to face Matthew, I smiled.

"Hey, how are you?" I asked.

"I'm well, thank you...how are you?" He asked, smiling back at me.

"I'm pretty well, what brings you over here? I thought you worked in the west wing" I asked.

"I do. I just wanted to come say hello" he smiled, I laughed.

"Hello" I said.

"Well, I guess I should be letting you get back to work" Matthew said.

"Probably, I have got plenty to do" I sighed.

"I will see you later then" he smiled, kissing my hand before walking away.

I smiled, resuming my walk to the kitchen. When I got in there, my mum, Laura and Cate were all working on breakfast.

"Good morning, Dear" my mum said.

"Morning ladies," I smiled, "what's for breakfast this morning?" I looked into a pan, only to be smacked away by Cate, she was the grumpy old lady cook every castle has. Apparently, she's been friends with the king since he was born.

"Keep your paws off, it is for the court, not you" she snapped.

"Sorry, Cate" I mumbled.

"Have ya seen King Edward this morning?" Laura asked, pushing some of her dark hair from her wrinkly face.

"No, I have not" I said.

"Oh, well hopefully he will show, this is his favourite meal" she said, mixing some flour in the bread dough.

I sighed, watching the women work. I would hate this job, I can not cook. My luck I would kill the king, and then be killed myself.

"Would you like to help, Dear?" My mother asked.

"Oh, no, I do not think that is a good idea...I will stick to serving" I said, imagining my scenario in my head again.

"Alright then" she said, walking over to flip some eggs.

I watched as they prepared the king a plate full of food, handing it to me. I took the tray and left the kitchen, I still had no clue where the king was. I spotted Kaolin in the hallway, talking with another servant.

"Have you seen King Edward?" I asked them.

"He's in the east wing" Kaolin answered.

"Great. Thanks" I mumbled, tuning the other way, toward the east wing.

"Good luck" Kaolin said from behind me, I ignored him and kept walking, eager to get this done.

I walked up the creepy old steps, they creaked with my every step, I worried that the king would kill me for coming up here. When I finally reached the top, I looked into the open door on the right, the king was there, in the same spot he's always in.
