"Kara?" A soft voice whispered from the other side of my door."Go away, Kaolin" I mumbled.
"Why did you run away?" He asked.
"I couldn't do it," I said, more tears falling down my face, "is he mad?"
"Ed? No, he was worried about you" he said, I scoffed.
"He probably hates me now" I cried.
"Will you let me in?" Kaolin asked.
"Hold on," I said, crawling up off the ground, I opened the door. Kaolin stood there, eyebrows raised with his hands on his hips.
"You look a mess" he said, walking past me and into my room.
"Thanks" I mumbled.
"I'm just being honest," he said, looking at my face. "Why are you crying?"
"I feel bad," I cried, "I didn't want to run away, but I just couldn't go out there."
"I know, and so does Ed, he understands" Kaolin comforted.
"That doesn't make me feel better" I said, sitting down on my bed.
"I know" Kaolin said, sitting down next to me.
"Is my mum down there?" I asked.
"She is" he said.
"What is going on down there?" I asked, playing with the dress.
"Come and see for yourself" he said, I shook my head.
"I can't"
"You can't do anything, can you?" He asked, laughing.
"Apparently not" I said.
"Come on-" Kaolin started, but he was interrupted when the door creaked open. King Edward popped his head in, his eyes landing on me before the wandered over to Kaolin.
"What are you doing here?" Ed asked Kaolin.
"You told me to come check on her" Kaolin said, completely confused.
"Oh right, yeah," the king laughed, stepping fully into the room. "Now get out."
"Oh, sorry Sire" Kaolin said, looking at me before leaving the room.
"Are you alright?" He asked the question for the second time tonight.
"I'm fine" I mumbled, looking down at my lap.
"I'm not angry" he said, coming over to sit next to me.
"You should be downstairs" I said, he shook his head, taking my hand.
"I rather by with you..." he said, bringing it up to his lips.
I smiled, "I'm so sorry that I ran away." I said, laying my head on his shoulder.
"It's alright" he whispered.
"No, it's not...I was just worried about what people would think" I said.
"Hey, I know. I understand, this must be difficult for you, it's fine" he said.
"I'm still sorry" I told him.
"Come with me," he said, getting up from the bed.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"The ball is over...and I never got that dance with you" he said, pulling me closer.
"Seriously?" I asked, smiling at him.
