"Another tray" Kaolin ordered

"Already?" I asked.

"Yes. Go" he said. I sighed, walking back to the busy kitchen to grab another tray of cheeses, for the ninth time in ten minutes.

"Another cheese tray" I told Cate.

"Damn royals burn through cheese faster than fire in the woods" she grumbled, making me laugh. She handed me another platter of assorted cheeses.

The feast was just starting and all of the high power, posh, royals were making their way through the grand doors in the dining hall. I had not seen the king yet, and quite frankly, I did not want to see him. I was angry and shocked that he relieved me or my duties.

I opened the kitchen or with my hip, not having any free hands, right when I walked out, the whole hall went quiet as they stood up, welcoming the king into the room. He walked into the hall looking...quite nice. He was dressed in his usual, formal, dark cloak, he had his tight back vest hugging his chest, over his plain white under shirt. His pants were black to match the rest of the outfit, his boots were long and black.

He stopped to talk with a few people standing on the edge of the walk way, I stood still, waiting for him to walk up to me and say something snarky...but he didn't, when he came my way, he just walked by, not even sparing me a glance.

I just sighed and continued to weave through the people, asking them if they wanted a piece of cheese. After another 5 minutes, the whole tray of cheese was gone. I made my way back to the kitchen again.

"Already?!" Cate yelled as soon as she saw me.

"Yes" I sighed, already tired of these people.

"Wouldn't you rather be eating?" Kaolin whispered in my ear. I turned around to face him.

"Will you shut your mouth?" I asked.

"I was just asking..." he said, smiling.

"I admit, I hate doing this" I said.

"Has he said anything to you?" Kaolin asked.

"Nope, he completely ignored me" I said, taking another tray from Cate.

"I'm going to cut up some fruit for you to take out, Kaolin" she told him.

"Alright, thank you Cate," he smiled, "you better by getting back out there...."

"Aren't you coming?" I asked.

"I have to wait for my fruit" he shrugged.

"Patience!" Cate called.

I went back out into the crowd of people, spotting the king's orange hair right away. He was speaking with a man, a very tall man, from French court. There was a very, elegant looking lady standing next to him...I was guessing that he was the King of France, and the lady was The Queen. I sighed again, pushing through the people.

After about a half hour, everyone had settled down into tables, they were having light conversations. The king was sitting up at the high table with the knights, they were being the loudest, laughing and yelling.

The food started to come out and the royals started to eat. The hall quieted down to minimal chatter as they just made small talk. Nothing was heard from the king as his eyes wandered around the room...like he was looking for someone. Finally, his eyes landed on me, but as soon as we made eyes contact, he quickly looked away.

"You two are making me uncomfortable" Kaolin whispered in my ear as he came up behind me.

"Yeah, well, thats your problem" I told him.
