"Sir? Are you awake?" I whispered, creeping into Matthew's room. I heard him groan as I walked further in, "I brought you some breakfast."

"What did you bring?" He asked, opening his eyes.

"Ham and eggs" I said, setting the tray on the table next to his bed. He sat up, looking at the food, a look of disgust on his face.

"What is it?" I asked, also looking at the food.

"I do not like the looks of that" he laughed.

"Well, my mother made it...I promise you it's better than it looks" I said.

"I hope so" he mumbled. I furrowed my eyebrow, handing him the tray.

"Do you need anything else?" I asked.

"No, you can go" he said.

"I'll see you later" I said, backing out of the room.

I hurried back to the kitchen, hoping Kaolin was in there. Fortunately, he was.

"Morning, Kara" he said.

"Morning," I mumbled.

"How was not seeing the king this morning?" He asked, I shrugged.

"I don't know, why, have you seen him?" I asked.

"No" he said.

"Does he have, you know...a new servant?" I asked.

"I don't know, I would suppose so," he sighed, "why does it matter?"

"It doesn't, I just wanted to know" I said quickly.

"Alright," he said, giving me a sceptical look, "how do you like serving Matthew so far?"

"I've only brought him breakfast, Kaolin" I said.

"Alright, how did that go?" He asked.

"Fine, I guess" I said.

"You guess?" He asked.

"He didn't like how his food looked" I sighed.

"What?" He asked, chuckling.

"Yeah, apparently it didn't look very appetising" I said.

"Well then..." he said, laughing.

"Ugh" I groaned.

"Maybe the king was right, maybe Matthew isn't who he comes off to be" he said.

"Really?" I asked, "don't start with that."

"Okay, I won't" he said. I looked at the clock hanging on the wall, I had not noticed that it had already been a half an hour since I had been up to Matthew's chambers.

"I should get back up and see of he needs anything" I said.

"You do that," Kaolin said, "I'll be doing your job, taking care of the king."

"I thought you said he didn't have a new servant" I said, raising an eyebrow.

"I am no servant" Kaolin said, sounding offended.

"Sorry" I mumbled.

"Go take care of Matthew and leave me alone" he laughed.

"Fine. I will" I said, leaving the kitchen. I slowly made my way up the stairs, I stopped in front of Matthew's door, but before I opened it, I stopped, looking down the hall. The kings chambers was just at the end, not 50 feet away. I was tempted to keep walking, go ask the king for my old job back...I had too much dignity for that though. I sighed, pushing the door open.
