Through out the last few days, I tried my best to stay away from both the king and his brother. I have been here for almost four months, and I have already lived the life of a royal. All this drama is just not my thing."You know, ignoring the king is not going to get you anywhere" Kaolin told me.
"No, but it will save me from all the stress he causes" I mumbled.
"That's enough to piss him off" Kaolin sighed.
"Good for him" I said, throwing some clothes into a basket.
"Yeah, well you do not have to sit and listen to him complain about you" he scoffed.
"He complains about me?" I asked, feeling amused.
"Yes, and it's bloody annoying. Do something about it" he said.
"No, he deserves it" I said, crossing my arms.
"Maybe he does, but do I really deserve the misery that comes with it?" He asked.
"No, maybe you should try the same thing" I said, he scoffed.
"And get my head chopped off, I don't think so" he said.
"You actually think that he would take your head off?" I asked.
"What ever, just take this to the the wash ladies" Kaolin said, shoving the basket of clothes in my arms. I sighed, before I turned around, trudging out of the room. I stopped when I saw the king heading in my direction, I was going to run, but it was too late, he saw me. He started to walk faster, his eyes trained on me. I turned around, hurrying in the opposite direction.
"Stop running away" he called from behind me. I didn't stop, I just kept going.
"Will you just stop?" He asked, catching up, grabbing my wrist, pulling me back.
"What?" I asked.
"Do you have some kind of problem with me?" He asked.
"Like you know..." I mumbled.
"Is it because I do not want you to speak with my brother?" He asked.
"What's so wrong with it?" I asked. The king sighed,
"You know what, I don't know why it bothers me so much that you ignore me" he said, dropping my wrist.
"I don't either" I snapped, he flexed his jaw, looking out the window beside me.
"Fine. If you do not wish to speak with me...then we will not speak" he said, brushing past me. Honestly I was shocked, I did not think he would just walk away. I turned around, watching his short figure get smaller before disappearing around the corner. I sighed angrily before I swiped the basket of clothes off the floor, walking in the other direction.
____
"I hate him" I sneered walking into the kitchen.
"What?" Kaolin asked.
"The king...do you know what he said to me?" I asked.
"What did he say?" He asked, sighing.
"He practically said that I had a problem" I said.
"What?" He asked.
"Yeah, then he said that he wasn't going to speak to me anymore either" I said, hopping up on the counter next to where he was cooking.
"Is that not what you wanted?" He asked.
"Not exactly...I just wanted a reason" I said.
"Well, the king doesn't play games, Kara" he said.
