[Seventeen]

***Lexi's POV***

2 days.

2 days until we go back home. 2 days until I saw my dad, my brother, my dog, and my house again.

I was laying down in bed, while Maddy and Hailey were out with Carter and Nash. I didn't realize how much I missed my mom until yesterday.

I heard a knock at the door, and sighed.

"It's open." I mumbled into my pillow, and heard the door open and close. I felt the bed dip, and someone lay next to me.

"You alright?" Cameron asked, and I turned to face him. I looked up at him, and sighed.

"Yeah." I said quietly.

"Are you lying?" Cam asked gently.

I nodded. "Yeah." I chocked out, and closed my eyes.

Cameron gently took my hand, and intertwined our fingers.

"My mom. She-" I said, but Cam cut me off.

"You don't have to." He whispered, and I ignored him.

"My mom was in a car crash when I was 13. The other driver ran a red light, crashing into my mom. She was sent to the hospital, and-" I took a deep breath before going on, and looked up at Cameron. "The doctors said that the way the car hit her, she had a slim chance of surviving. S-she didn't make it. She died the day after the crash." I whsipered.

Cameron just sat and listened, drawing gentle circles on the back of my hand with his thumb.

"I always wondered what she would think of me, the choices I've made, and just who I am. I had to live through years of drama and dating and problems without my mom." I said, and Cameron wrapped an arm around my waist.

"She would be extremely proud of you. Your mom is always watching over you, and I know she loves you." Cameron said.

He was the only person that didn't say, 'I'm sorry' or 'it will be ok.' I needed that. I needed to know that someone actually cared, not just saying what they thought I would want to hear.

"Thank you." I mumbled into Cam's chest, and I heard him say something, but couldn't make it out because I quickly fell asleep.

***Cameron's POV***

"You're welcome, Lex." I said quietly.

I heard soft snores, and looked down to see Lexi sleeping peacefully.

I can't believe she lost her mom. How could a 13 year old deal with that? When she told me about her mom, she didn't even shed a tear. I could tell it hurt her to talk about it, but she's just so... strong.

I don't know what I would do without my mom. She never seemed upset or hurt about it, not until... basketball.

I started that... she's like this right now because of me.

"I'm so stupid." I mumbled, and Lexi looked up. I didn't even notice that she woke up.

"No, you're not. Cameron, just because you brought up basketball isn't why I'm like this. You weren't the driver of that car. None of this is your fault." She gently said, reading my thoughts.

"I just-"

"No, Cam, it's ok. I have to break once in a while, right? It's not like I could always be this strong, happy girl." She whispered.

"You are a strong, happy girl. You're my girl. Don't forget that, alright?" I said, and her eyes held an emotion that I couldn't quite read.

"I won't." She mumbled, and rested her head on my chest. We sat like that for a while, and it felt... right.

***Lexi's POV***

"Hey! I love you guys so much!" A fan, about 13, squealed. We were at Magcon, doing a meet and greet. I was partnered up with Jack G.

"We love you, too." I said with a smile.

"Can I get a picture?" She asked sweetly.

"Sure." Jack G said, and we took the picture.

Another two fans ran up to us, about 16. One had long, black hair, while the other had long, blonde hair.

"Oh my god, I love you so much!" The blonde said to Jack G, whole chuckled.

"I love you, too." He said.

"I can't believe I'm actually talking to you right know." She said, and started crying.

"Hey, don't cry, beautiful." Jack G chuckled, and she smiled.

"Can we get a picture on my phone?" The girl with black hair asked. We took the picture, and they ran off to Carter and Hailey.

"You're so sweet to your fans." I said.

"You are, too. I'll just never understand how they love me so much. I'm just a guy." Jack G said, watching the girls from before hug Carter and Hailey.

"To yourself, you're just a guy. To them, you're the world." I said, and he looked at me.

"Thanks." He smiled, and wrapped his strong arms around my waist, while I wrapped mine around his neck.

It's sad to think that tomorrow is our last day before we all go home for a while.
