[Forty Nine]

***Lexi's POV***

"... live?" A familiar voice spoke.

"She suffered a major head injury, as well as two broken ribs and a fractured ankle. I'm surprised she made it, in all honesty. She died, and somehow came back. Maybe this was fate, but it's all up to her now." Another voice said, an unrecognizable one.

"Thank you." The first voice whispered, and I heard a door open and close.

"She'll pull through."

"I hope so."

"I know it."

I struggled to open my eyes, and a constant beeping noise was annoying me. My eyelids felt heavy, and I just barely made out these different voices. I was laying down, and I wondered what happened.

Wait, how did I even get here?

I gathered all the strength I had in me to slowly open my eyes. I blinked a couple times, adjusting to the light.

"Lexi?"

"Hi." I mumbled, my blurry vision slowly coming back to normal.

"How are you feeling?" Maddy asked from beside me.

"Fine." I said, a little more clearly than before, "What happened?"

"A car crashed into you. You, um, died, but came back. You have two broken ribs, a fractured ankle, and a serve head injury. Do, um, do you know who I am?" Maddy asked, and I couldn't help but giggle lightly.

"Yes, Maddy. You're hard to forget."

"Good! Whew, it would of been bad if you forgot me. Do you know how long it would take to convince you that we were best friends?" Maddy said, and I giggled.

"How long was I out?" I asked suddenly.

"Three days." She says, and I notice heavy bags under her eyes from lack of sleep, along with a mess of light blonde hair framing her face.

"Where's Cam?"

"Just outside." She made a move to get up, but stopped, and looked back down at me, "You sure...?"

"Yeah." I said quietly, and she nodded. Maddy squeezed my hand reassuringly, before getting up and walking out.

Three days I was out. I couldn't help but have a ton of questions run through my mind. How much have I missed? Who was here for me while I was hurt? Did the whole Magcon family know?

"Hey." A voice said, and I looked up, to meet those same brown eyes that I've somehow fallen in love with.

"Hi."

"How are you feeling?" Cameron asked, sitting beside me.

"Alright." I said, and he sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"If you do that to me again, I'll just go and kill you myself." Cam said, and I laughed.

"I'll try not to." I said, taking his hand in mine, intertwining our fingers like always.

"I'm not ready for you to leave me yet, Lex." He said. Cam's brown eyes held an emotion that I couldn't quite read.

"I'm not ready to leave yet, Cam." I said, and he leaned down to kiss my forehead. His gentle lips made contact with my skin, and it just felt right.

"I love you." Cameron said.

"I love you, too." I said, smiling.

"Careful, careful!" Maddy said, as Matt and Taylor helped me over to the bed. I plopped down, and Hailey set down my crutches next to me on the floor.

"Chill, Mads. I'm alright." I said, laughing.

"Well." She mumbled. It's been 4 days since I woke up at the hospital, and the doctor said I made a fast recovery. I would have to be on crutches for 14 days, and I have to be easy on my ribs. Otherwise, I was back to normal.

"So, Magcon tomorrow?" Carter said, sitting down on the other bed. We were currently crammed in my hotel room that I shared with Taylor.

"I know, I can't wait." Matt said, clapping his hands together. Shawn's phone started ringing, and he answered it.

"Jack, throw me a water?" Hailey asked, and Jack J tossed her a bottle.

"Hey, Lex, you'll be ok for Magcon, right?" Jack G asked.

"Yeah, I think so." I said, and he nodded.

"Uh, guys, Cameron's getting stitches." Shawn said, after hanging up.

"What?" All of us said at the same time.

"Yeah, apparently him and Nash were filming some video, and he stepped on a tin can. He needs 13 stitches, and he's getting them right now, according to Nash." Shawn explained.

"Lexi, you and your boyfriend can be twins!" Matt said, and I flipped him off.

"Yeah, he has to go on crutches for two weeks." Shawn said, and we nodded. Typical Cam.

"So, truth or dare, anyone?" Carter asked, raising his eyebrows and smirking.
