Chapter 14: Hormones Suck

the bell ended up ringing a while ago and school was over but I was still stuck in the room with milo drying off his tail since the paper towels were barley absorbent

"..........you're still drying them too hard" milo muttered

"I'm sorry who's the one who saved your life" I asked looking up at him and he hung his head

".... thank you" he finally said grateful

"your welcome. but if mermaids can manipulate water, why can't you just heat up the water or something?" I asked

"because it stings if I do and that's bad for my scales" he announced and I stopped to stare at him

"seriously?" I asked giving him a look

"my scales are important" he defended while I only shook my head but kept drying only now paying more attention to his scales. I guess I could see why he was trying to take care of them they did look pretty, I can only imagine what they be like in the water. that's when I remembered what was going on

"you know milo. if you want, you can come to the pack house" I offered him and he was silent

"no" he declared surprising me a little but if that was his-

"I'm not going to annoy you so I'm fine in the sea" he announced. god was he serious

"milo that-" I started but froze at the sound of the door opening before whipping my head only to see Gwen at the door standing there looking at us wide eyed

"whoa" she said shocked

"y-you didn't lock it?" milos squeaked out

"I thought I did" I said cursing myself

"you-" Gwen started

"close the door" I exclaimed and she flinched but closed it this time locking it

"please don't say anything" milo begged teary eyed

"why would I say anything?" she asked

"cause he's a merman" I pointed out

"don't say it" milo exclaimed

"she can see the tail the secrets out" I pointed out as he teared up more

"its fine I already knew" Gwen announced

"what?" we both asked shocked

"what do you expect when you keep humming that tone all over the place, you realize that whenever a mermaid does anything musical with their voice it echoes in a way right?" she asked while I only looked at milo not believing he was doing that

"putting that aside for later, you can't say anything cause-" I started

"he's the only merman in the world and he's trying to hide it from everyone, and doesn't really like most of the girls here" she announced

"..........are you psychic too?" milo asked surprised

"no just unlike everyone else in the school I know how rumors spread and actually observe the person before saying anything" she declared

"so you knew everything" I said getting it

"it was only a hunch but the tail confirms it, and you seriously need to improve your acting skills if you plan on fooling the others longer" she told milo who started to cry sniffling a little

"wa-wait why is he crying, what did I do?" she asked confused while I only shook my he'd before throwing the paper towels to her

"you just made him really happy" I announced while she looked at milo
