Chapter 5: Why're You Here?!?

Iris pov

the drive ended up taking what felt like forever, especially since I had to go slow enough for harper to keep up but I didn't really care if I was late for my first day or not. When we finally got into the city after a full four hours harper said that we needed to stop by some place

"What are we doing here" I asked grossed out by the gas station bathroom, even when I don't focus on my senses it smells like shit

"Phoenix is a prestige school, being so they're certain requirements for us to get it" she announced going through her purse

"it's really stinks in here harper can you get on with it" I asked her not knowing how much more I could take only for here to pull out two cases handing me one with my initials on it and I opened it curious

"....contact lenses....why" I asked confused as she put her in

"The school is protected by a magical barrier to keep both unwanted humans and supernatural out. She announced before blinking repeatedly tearing up

"They don't look like their comfortable" I said staring at her

"they're made to dissolve into your eyes since putting them in is too time consuming, put yours in, jay already said that the bell rung so we're officially late on the first day of school" she told me and I sighed before putting them in

"Damn it" I said blinking and tearing up till the uncomfortableness was gone

"You can train everything but the eyes huh" harper asked smiling

"Ha ha let's just go" I said whipping my nears getting out of the bathroom only to freeze at what I saw

".....you see the floating fire too right" I asked harper who tried touching them

"Yes, the manual said that they'll activated whenever we need to get to phoenix and are near the closest entrance" she announced while we walked to rides

'The closest entrance? Does that mean there's more' I asked through the link while we followed the fire

'I can only assume' she answered before we followed the fire to what was.....

"You're shitting me right" I asked looking at the building

"When the goddess sends a gift you take it" harper said happily following the fire into the mall n while I shook my head following her. When I looked at the people walking by it seemed like they really couldn't see the fire not even the supernatural

"Welcome" a women greeted us as we walked into a store

"Hi....we're um...." harper stopped before pulling out her phone

"Here to burn the ash and set fire to mighty chickadee" she told the women

"What" I asked smiling at her

"That's what it said to say" she stressed through her teeth while I laughed

"Ah. You must be new. Had trouble finding this place" the women asked gesturing us towards the back while we hesitantly followed

"A little...but others don't apparently" I said looking around the store. They sold what looked like a bunch of tribal things stuff that usually aren't that popular to sell people but thy looked surprisingly busy

"Well we are the number one shop in the mall" she said proud before entering her office us close behind

"So....." I asked looking around the small room

"Just go through that door and if you keep following the fire being new it should lead you right to class" she said smiling and I was skeptical so I opened the door not wanting anything to happen to harper. Only once I opened it there was a huge bright light and a rush of cool air making me shield my eyes till they adjusted and I stared wide eyed at what seemed to be an entirely different world on the other side with the giant castle standing there in all its glory
