Raising her hands up in the air, Y/N happily waved at the crowd, who applauded loudly.
She smiled, still not really being able to believe that she just won the semifinal of the US Open, meaning that she was going to fight for her first Grand Slam title against Angelique Kerber tomorrow.
After finishing a short interview, Y/N grabbed her bag, giving autographs to a few of the fans before
leaving the court.A few minutes later she finally found herself being congratulated by her coach and all of her family members, who found the time to watch her play.
"You're in the final!" Her coach exclaimed, giving her a quick hug before patting her shoulder. "You played incredibly today."
"Thanks," Y/N replied, smiling brightly at all of the people standing in front of her, excitement taking over her at the thought of the final.

The next day, Y/N stood up extra early to be able to practice a bit before the big final, but on the way to the court, where her coach was already waiting for her, she suddenly heard someone shout her name.
She turned around, a smile forming on her lips as she saw who it was. "Roger!" She exclaimed, quickly walking towards him and giving the Swiss tennis player a hug. "It's so great to see you again."
"You, too, Y/N, it's been a while." He replied, smiling down at her. "Congratulations on your win yesterday, you really played amazingly" He added, slowly running a hand through his hair.
"Thank you," She stated, nervously playing with the tennis racket in her hand as she suddenly saw someone walking towards them.
"Hey, Rafa," Roger said and Y/N was surprised to see that it really was Rafael Nadal who was standing in front of her.
"Hey, Roger, it's good to see you," The Spaniard replied before turning his attention towards Y/N.
"You're Y/N, right?" He asked, stretching his hand out for her to shake.
"Yes, I am," She answered, smiling at him. "It's a pleasure to meet you," She added, making him chuckle slightly.
"It's odd that we've never met before, isn't it?" Rafael questioned, shrugging his shoulders.
"You're right," She mumbled, looking at the ground for a moment before staring back up at him.
"Would you two excuse me for a moment?" Roger suddenly asked, pulling Y/N out of her thoughts.
"Of course," She replied, watching as the tennis player walked away to greet another man, who was coming their way.
"So, you're playing in the final tonight, aren't you?" Rafa asked after a while of silence.
"Yes, it's my first time playing in the final of a Grand Slam. I'm a bit nervous," She admitted, chuckling slightly.
"I'm sure you'll do great," He stated, making her raise her eyebrows in surprise.
"Really?" Y/N questioned and he nodded, which somehow, made her feel a bit more relaxed.
"I've seen you playing in the semifinal; if you play like this again there's no doubt that you'll win," He said, smiling at her again.
"I hope so," She mumbled, taking a glance at her watch. "I think I should go now."
"Alright," Rafa replied, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Good luck in the final."
"Thank you," She said, running a hand through her hair before turning around.
She walked a few meters, but somehow, felt the need to turn around again after some time. She saw that Rafa was still smiling at her and couldn't stop herself from walking back towards him.
"Would you, maybe, want to come and watch the final later?" She asked, nervousness taking over her again.
Rafa chuckled, still smiling brightly. "Only if you go out on a date with me afterwards."
