Y/N was happily walking around the courts, her bag hanging loosely on her shoulder and a tennis racket in her left hand.
The training had gone pretty well and she was very optimistic about her upcoming semi-final against the one and only Venus Williams.
The young tennis player was just casually talking to her coach who was walking next to her, when she suddenly ran into someone.
"Oh, I'm...," She started and was about to apologize, but she stopped as soon as she saw who was standing in front of her, "Nadal."
The Spaniard just rolled his eyes at her before slightly shrugging his shoulders.
"Y/L/N," He stated, glaring down at her, while a small smile was visible on his lips nevertheless.
Although they had never really talked to one another, the two top ten tennis players always acted like that when they met, without either of them knowing why; it's like it was hate at first sight.
"You're ready to loose later?" He asked, causing her to clench her fists, but she tried her best to stay calm and sweetly smiled up at him.
"I bet you are," She replied, watching in amusement how his smirk was replaced by a confused expression.
Before he could even say anything else, she continued her way with her coach by her side.
"You two are unbelievable," He commented, shaking his head, while chuckling quietly.
"You can't compare me to him. I'm...," Y/N started, but was cut off by her coach, who placed an arm around her shoulder.
"The two of you have more in common than you think and you should be happy about that."

Loosing the first set 6-1, having to give up the match because of an injury; that definitely wasn't how Y/N had expected the first Grand Slam semifinal of her career to go, but here she was, sitting in the player's lounge with her head in her hands and tears running down her cheeks.
"I can't believe this," She mumbled quietly to herself, repeatedly shaking her head, "Why am I so stupid?"
After taking a shaky breath, she ran a hand through her y/h/c hair and slowly looked up to see that someone was standing in front if her, Rafael.
"Great," She said sarcastically, quickly wiping the tears away, not wanting him to see how vulnerable she was.
She watched with wide eyes how the Spaniard sat down beside her, looking at her from the side; but this time he didn't look at her in annoyance, there was something warm and friendly in his eyes that made her heartbeat quicken.
"It is not your fault," He just said, causing her to feel even more confused than before, "Injuries happen sometimes."
Y/N raised her eyebrows, the tears finally stopping to fall from her eyes.
"I always used to beat up myself over things like this just like you do now, but that's unnecessary. You couldn't have done anything differently, I saw your match. Instead of crying, you should be proud of what you achieved because although the tournament ended like this now, you still made it into the semifinal of a Grand Slam and you did your best out there, everyone could see that."
To say that those words were shocking Y/N would be an understatement; she was absolutely speechless.
"Why are you so nice to me all of a sudden? I thought you hated me," She whispered after a while of silence in which both of them had been trying to sort out their own thoughts.
"Why would I hate you?" Rafa replied, the smile on his lips widening slightly, "I think you're an amazing tennis player and I'm pretty sure you're a great woman, too."
Y/N couldn't believe what she was hearing and she was getting more confused by the second.
"Really?" She asked, looking right into his eyes, feeling her heart hammering in her chest.
Rafael nodded before slowly getting up from the couch. "Do me a favour and think about my words, yeah?"
Without even waiting for her reply, he turned around and started to walk away, but Y/N was quick to catch up to him again.
"Why were you always so cold around me if you mean what you said?" She questioned, quickly grabbing his arm to stop him from walking away.
Rafa sighed before shrugging his shoulders.
"Honestly? I don't know. I just feel so different around you.""Well, then maybe you should stay away from me...," She answered, trailing off at the end to think about her next words, "...or you should get to know me."
His eyes lit up at the thought of spending time with her and he couldn't help the smile that was returning to his lips.
"I would love that; getting to know you, I mean," He mumbled, nervously scratching the back of his neck.
"I guess I'll see you around then, Nadal."
After hesitating for a second, Y/N slightly leaned forward to place a quick kiss on his cheek before walking away, leaving him to stare at her with wide eyes and his heart beating ten times as fast as normally did.
