"How are you feeling?" Grigor asked his fiancée, who was sitting opposite to him, nervously fiddling with her fingers, while leaving the breakfast in front of her untouched.

Sighing, she looked up at him, her y/e/c eyes immediately finding his as he was running a hand through his hair, a worried expression visible on his face.

"I'm fine," Y/N replied, trying her best to convince him with a sweet smile, but he knew that something was off.

Reaching across the table, he softly took her hand in his in an attempt to calm her down and stop her from becoming more nervous by the second. "Don't lie to me."

Y/N silently cursed; she knew it would be impossible to fool him as he knew absolutely everything about her, they had already been dating for more than five years after all.

"It's the match," She finally admitted, causing a sigh to escape Grigor's lips as it stressed him out, too, knowing that in a few hours he was going to be playing against her in the final.

Neither of them thought that they would come this far, but there was no going back now; the Australia Open's mixed doubles final was set.

Y/F/N and Pablo Carreno Busta playing against Grigor Dimitrov and Martina Hingis.

It was silent between the two of them because they were both sorting out their thoughts, until she spoke up again. "I'm afraid it will change something."

The Bulgarian tennis player slightly shook his head, although he felt the same way in reality.

"Everything will be alright," He started, taking a deep breath and looking right into her eyes, "I love you and that'll never change."

Y/N felt her heart slightly speeding up at his words, but they weren't enough to fully calm her down as her mind was still clouded by all the possibilities of what could happen.

"I know that, but at the end of the day one of us will be a champion and one of us a loser, one of us will get a winners' trophy, the other the second place," She mumbled, raising her eyebrows as her fiancée started smirking slightly.

"I know a way to fix this."

Without waiting for her reply, he rushed over to her side before placing a quick kiss on her cheek. "Give me your engagement ring."

Y/N couldn't believe what she was hearing and turned around to look at him with wide eyes. "What? You want to break off our engagement? How's that going to fix anything?"

Grigor rolled his eyes at her questions before quickly leaning down to cut her off with a soft kiss.

"I don't want to break off anything, love," He started his explanation, his hand resting on her cheek, "but if you give it to me now, I can give it back to you after the match, so we'll know everything is still alright."

Giggling, Y/N brushed a hand through his dark hair, shaking her head in amusement. "This plan is so idiotic that it might actually work."

Shrugging his shoulders, Grigor slowly slipped the ring off of her finger, watching how the diamond reflected the light for a moment before turning back towards his fiancée.

"I'll see you on the court," He cheekily said, leaving the restaurant with a smirk after placing one last kiss on her lips.

Four hours later it was time; the two of them, each with their partner, stood opposite to each other on the court as Y/N was getting ready for her first serve.

She focused on the racket in her hand and on the ball, trying to not think about the fact that her opponent was the love of her life.

The first set ended before they knew it; Pablo and Y/N winning 6-4 with one break ahead, but Grigor and Martina weren't ready to give up the match, instead picking up the win in the next set, meaning the final would be decided by a match tiebreaker.

Y/N saw her fiancé looking at her during the short break, a small smile visible on his lips.

The tiebreak was more than tight as both teams were giving their absolute best to win, but soon enough the score was 9-8; match point for Grigor and Martina.

"Yes!" Both of them screamed in unison as the Bulgarian's serve landed in the right corner, leaving Y/N no change to get it.

While the two winners were celebrating, she walked over to Pablo, who immediately pulled her into a hug.

"We'll win next time," He whispered into her ear before softly guiding her over to the net to congratulate their opponents.

Y/N was proud of her fiancé, but that was overpowered by the sadness overcoming her. A sad smile visible on her lips, she shook hands with Grigor, avoiding to look into his eyes.

Since it would still take a while for the ceremony to begin, she sat down on the bench next to Pablo with her head in her hands, not noticing that Grigor was making his way over to them.

As she finally looked up, she saw him getting down on one knee in front of her, causing the crowd to gasp loudly.

Smiling he took the engagement ring out of his pocket, holding it out to her. Although Y/N was still feeling sad about loosing, she couldn't help but giggle slightly as he softly slid the ring back onto her finger.

"That's were it is supposed to be," He whispered, placing a soft kiss on her cheek, which finally made her smile brightly, "I'm so proud of you, love."

Completely ignoring the thousands of people that were watching them, she leaned forward, wrapping her arms around his neck, while placing her lips on top of his.

They heard cheering all around them as they broke apart, causing both of them to laugh slightly.

"You're incredible," Y/N stated, playfully punching him as he just shrugged his shoulders.

"I love you so much, Y/N," He whispered after a while, looking directly into her eyes, "and that'll never change, not even when we're opponents in a final."

She felt her heart speeding up at his words and a few tears forming in her eyes. "I love you, too, Grigor."

"I can't wait until I can finally call you my wife and it'll be Dimitrov vs Dimitrov in the next final."
