"Novak!" Y/N exclaimed, a wide smile visible on her lips as she watched her best friend turning around, a confused expression on his face.

His eyes went wide as soon as he realized who had called out for him. Immediately, he sprinted towards her and threw his arms around her in a tight hug.

"Y/N, what are you doing here?" He asked, slightly backing away to be able to look into her y/e/c eyes.

Giggling, she brushed her hand through his hair, causing him to roll his eyes, but the smile on his lips widened nevertheless.

"I'm here to support my best friend," She stated, shrugging her shoulders as if it was the most normal thing in the world that she was here, hundreds of kilometers away from home.

"I thought you couldn't come," Novak replied, but she just shook her head.

"I wanted to surprise you."

The tennis player's heart slightly picked up its speed, happiness overcoming him completely.

"You're the best."

Y/N had to blush a little at his comment and quickly looked at the ground to hide it.

It was silent between the two of them for a while, both of them just enjoying the fact that they were finally reunited.

"Well, there might be a small problem," She suddenly said, carefully glancing up at her best friend, who had raised his eyebrows and was gesturing for her to continue, "I booked the flight on very short notice, so I kinda don't really...have a hotel to stay at."

"That's no problem," The Serbian answered, nervously starting to scratch the back of his neck, "You can stay in my room."

"Are you sure?"

"Of course."

Without even waiting for her to say anything else, he took her hand and guided her towards his hotel, which was very close to the courts.

"You were amazing out there!" Y/N exclaimed as she met up with Novak after his first match had ended and he had talked to the media.

"Thanks," He replied, swinging his bag over his shoulder before starting his way back to the hotel with his best friend at his side, "It was great to finally see you in my box again."

Y/N was about to answer, but she was cut off by the ringing of her phone.

Sighing, she looked down at it and saw her ex-boyfriend's name on the display.

"Is he bothering you again?" Novak asked, worry and concern clearly visible on his face.

"Maybe," She whispered and before she could react, her best friend had taken the phone from her hand, accepting the call.

"Listen, you will leave Y/N alone from now on, no more messages, no more calls and no more visiting her or else you've got a problem."

Y/N leaned closer, trying to understand what her ex-boyfriend was saying on the other end of the line.

"Who are you to tell me that?"

"I'm Y/N's... boyfriend," Novak replied, causing his best friend's eyes to go wide.

Sadly, she couldn't hear what was said on the other side.

"Yeah, good," The tennis player stated before ending the call and handing the phone back to Y/N.

"He won't call you again," He said, the smile returning to his lips as he continued walking.

"Wait, wait, wait," She said, quickly catching up to him again, "Why did you tell him that you're my boyfriend?"

Shrugging his shoulders, the Serbian glanced at Y/N, his heart picking up its speed again as he looked directly into her eyes.

"Because...," He started, debating whether or not he should lie to her, "...y-you mean a lot to me and maybe I wish that we would be more than friends."

"More?"

Y/N was confused, hundreds of emotions overcoming her at the same time.

"Can't you see how much you mean to me?" Novak finally stopped walking and turned around to face her completely, "I love..."

Before he could finish his sentence, Y/N leaned forward and softly placed her lips on top of his.

Although he had expected anything else but this reaction, Novak immediately returned the kiss, wrapping his arms around her.

Neither of them wanted to break apart, but they eventually had to as they were both running out of breath.

"I want to be...more, too," Y/N said, her eyes lightening up even more with each second that passed by.

With their hands intertwined, the two of them continued their way, one's smile mirroring the other's.
