"Hey Sam, what's up?" Hannah asked, answering her phone, putting it on speaker on the table as the others gathered around.
"Hey Hannah, I'm just at my boyfriends place, but I found out something about Robert last night," Sam explained.
"Sam is everything alright in there?!" a faint voice called out.
"Yeah!" Sam shouted back. "Sorry, that's him."
"It's cool," Hannah replied. "What'd you find out?"
"I know what he can do. He can project himself into dreams, he's done it to me before I knew you, too. But it was long enough ago that I didn't recognize him when you told me what he looked like," Sam explained. "I looked like I had back then. In the dream I mean. Both times I was in this room. And the first time he predicted I would fall and I woke up falling from the bed. Stuff like that! It's so weird. but I don't know if there's more to it than dream-hopping or what, but I felt like I should tell you about it."
"Do you mind if we come to meet with you?" Alen asked.
"Uh... sure, no problem?" Sam replied. "Damien? Oh... okay."
"We'll see you the first place we met up, I'll call you when we get to the town," Hannah explained.
"Yeah, alright," Sam replied. "I have to go, Damien hurt himself."
The line went dead and Hannah grabbed her phone.
"Should we believe him?" Teffy asked.
"That's why I wanted to see him in person. If this is true that means Robert wants something to do with him, clearly. I just want to ask him about what he wants," Alen explained.
"You okay, Teffy?" Hannah asked. She looked a little worried.
"I think this was the Sam I wet hunting with at Christmas," she explained.
"The one that died?" Mitch asked.
"Exactly. He liked this guy named Damien, too. And he was hunting with his friend Marc," Teffy explained.
"How is he still around if he died?" Alen asked.
"I have no idea," Teffy replied. "I'll ask him about it if I get him alone."
-- Time Skip --
They saw Sam and Damien walking down the street together. It looked like something was bothering him.
Sam looked up and found them, the two crossing the street.
"Hey," Sam said.
"Hey, I wanted to ask you for more details of your dream," Alen asked. There was an obvious difference between Sam and Damien. Sam was small and innocent, but Damien clearly knew who they were and wouldn't let them touch a hair on his head.
"Oh. Okay," Sam replied.
"I just want to know why he was speaking with you," Alen asked.
"Oh... well, he said he needed my help, and when I denied him, he said he knew I'd say that and that I'd change my mind," Sam explained.
"Why you?" Mitch asked.
"I... don't know," Sam replied. It was a lie. Everyone could tell he was holding back something sensitive.
"I want to talk with you, Sam. If that's okay," Teffy asked.
"Oh... alright," Sam replied, looking up at Damien, who hesitantly let him go.
"I'm sorry but... I saw you die," she said.
"Oh jeez," Sam replied, running a hand through his hair. "I... well..."
Sam looked over at Damien before glaring at the ground. He didn't know what he could say.
"Sam?" Teffy asked. "Are you an angel?"
Sam was panicked. He was dead. Teffy was going to call him out and you know who the next hunt would be on?
"Don't panic, Sam. So am I," she replied. "There, now if I call you out you can call me out."
"Oh... okay," Sam replied, calming down. "Do your friends know?"
"No, what do yours?" she asked back.
"Yeah," he replied.
"Alright," she replied. The two walked back over and Damien wrapped his arm over Sam's shoulder.
"Sam, Damien says you're the head of your team?" Alen suggested.
"Team? Are we a team? I guess we are. You'd call me the leader?" Sam replied, looking up at Damien.
"Marc could be the leader but you put a lot more time into it. If you tried to be a leader you'd be really good," Damien replied.
"But just me and Marc isn't enough for a team, is it? Or do we include you? You aren't really a hunter though," Sam continued.
"I think I'd be a part of it. But you'd probably be in charge of it all, though," Damien concluded.
"Okay, I'd like to stay in contact with you. Here," Alen said, holding out a small card. "It's read backwards as a precaution."
"Okay," Sam replied.
The two groups split ways.
"I don't know if we can trust them."
