The bed wasn't comfortable. Neither was his sleep.
He dreamt about helping Damien study, and for a while he actually thought everything had just been a bad dream.
But he woke up. Then he cried again.
The door was still open and there was an old plate of chicken and potatoes sitting on the desk that Sam hadn't bothered to touch.
He kept himself in the room all the time. It wasn't even tempting.
The only time he had left was at around midnight when he had to scout for the bathroom.
He'd left the tap running and didn't flush the toilet in his own special retaliation.
Robert entered the room and exchanged the plates. The new one was scrambled eggs.
"Sam, you should eat. You'll never see Damien again if you die. He won't know if you die so he won't get there in time to save you," Robert commented. His words made Sam feel sick.
"What, so now you'll use him against me?" Sam replied.
"I'm not against you, Sam," Robert replied. He sat on the edge of the bed and Sam scooted away from him. "Sam, you don't have to be afraid of me."
"You kidnapped me!" Sam shouted. Tears came back to his eyes. "You took me from my boyfriend and my family and my friends!"
"Sam there was no way we could do this if you were still home," he explained.
"..."
Robert left the room, the door open again.
Sam sat there for a few minutes before he thought about what Robert had said.
He walked over to the desk and grabbed the plate and the fork sat next to it.
After eating Sam walked out of the room and saw the living area, Robert was sat at a desk drawing and there was calm music playing.
"Can I just have cereal and milk tomorrow?" Sam asked aloud. Robert glanced over at him in confusion. "I like just cereal."
Sam turned and left, going back into the room and sitting down, holding his knees against himself.
