Damien chuckled as he watched his sister dance around the park, when suddenly someone rested their arms on the top of his head.

"Hey Damien," the small boys voice spoke from behind him.

"Hey bud!" Damien replied, watching as Sam walked around the bench. He would protect Sam with his life. He didn't know what would happen if he ever lost the small, scarf-wearing boy.

________

Damien stepped into the red house. There weren't many people yet so he went to find Marc talking with Ryder and Megan.

A small surge of pride went through Damien, Megan liked Marc, she had since elementary and came to Damien because he was close to Marc. She was shy so they didn't talk much, especially not with Marc's other friends around.

Damien liked these parties the most because... well... it was the only time Sam actually looked like he cared about his appearance. And damn did he look nice.

The only problem that made was that he'd stick by Damien's side so he had to keep his face from burning red and calling himself out.

Damien was about to walk over to them when the front door opened and attracted his attention. Speak of the devil.

Their gazes connected and Damien offered a smile, inviting Sam to walk over.

________

"Yes but what if you weren't! What if he'd killed you! Sam I'm not letting you die!" Damien shouted back.

"Stop acting so weird! What happened to you! What do you expect me to do! Go back in time and stop myself from meeting him! Because I can't do that and apparently Angels are the only thing with weird psycho powers in this world, Damien. So you need to go realize that nothing can be changed and that I'm fine! So stop acting so weird, Damien!" Sam shouted. "I'm going home, don't act weird next time we talk. Okay? Just do something to relax, Damien. Start acting like yourself then we can talk about this Carter thing."

Damien froze up as Sam turned away. He just didn't want Carter to kill him, was that not a good reason to be worried?

Sam walked inside and Damien accepted the reality, and started walking down the street, he needed to calm down, so he got to the pet store nearby and found Sands, the kitten he was saving his money for, he couldn't help but feel like the people who ran the shop we're keeping her there for him.

He quickly took a selfie with her and sent it Sam's way, he just had to relax, Sam made a deal, he was safe.

You: Sands and I can apologize for strange behaviour??

Sammy 😘: did you run there just for a photo with her XD

Sammy 😘: Also when did you change your contact on my phone???

You: Long ago

Damien chuckled softly, he'd be dead if anyone ever saw that contact name.

________

"Ever since you found out I know about Angels you've been acting so pr-" Sam was cut off as Marcus ran over.

"Hey guys! I'm stealing Damien for a bit!" Marc shouted before running away, pulling Damien with him until they were out of sight.

"Dude what's up?" Damien asked.

"The guys don't believe me that you and Sam aren't dating," Marc replied.

"And that's what you so desperately dragged me away from him for?" Damien asked. "What if he's in danger?"

"Come on, Sam knows how to handle himself," Marc replied.

Damien was dragged straight past the campsite and looked at Marc confused before he was dragged into another and saw Megan.

"You're a liar," Damien teased.

"Yeah, shut up," Marc replied.

"So Damien, Marc hired me to help get you paired up with your friend Sam. What's she like?" Megan asked.

"Sam's a guy..." Damien corrected awkwardly. "Samuel Michael Owen, he went to your school. And we're only friends, so if you don't mind you're fired."

"Oh, sorry!" she replied. "I didn't mean to assume! He was in my English class, a quiet smart guy. Marc said you like each other."

"Marc are you serious, I'm getting back to Sam," Damien commented.

________

Damien was holding his phone, but his attention was elsewhere.

Sam was reading his journal, paying no mind to Damien, he was looking for something. Damien was watching him, he couldn't help himself, he never really got a chance to just watch Sam do anything without risking getting caught.

"Hey guys," Marc's voice spoke up, he stepped into their tent and Damien was quick to stare at his phone. "Real smooth, Damien."

Damien's face went a little red as he tried to ignore Marc and tell him to go fuck himself without speaking aloud and drawing attention to himself.

________

"What's your natural hair colour?" Sam asked suddenly, walking in front of Damien and standing extremely close, threading his fingers through the front of Damien's hair and pulling it away from his forehead.

Damien felt his face start burning, he wasn't getting out of this one alive.

"I think he's blonde," Marc commented, Sam looked back at him, fingers still tangled in Damien's hair, he glared at Marc who was fighting off laughter.

The shorter turned back and Damien looked down into curious, bright blue eyes.

"Uh Sam... this is weird..." Damien explained, Sam's face suddenly went red as he stepped back and Damien fixed his hair.

"Sorry!" Sam shouted, Marc burst out laughing. "Marc's the one who brought up the question!"

"Dude what colour is it?" Marc asked through his laughter.

"Neon pink," Damien replied, a joking tone to his voice. "Dyed it paler."

"Dude shut up, it's gotta be blonde," Sam replied.

________

"Hey Marc... can I talk to you?" Damien asked.

"Sure dude, what's on your mind?" Marc asked.

"Uh... I know you're going on this hunting trip so... protect Sam for me, will you?" Damien asked nervously.

"Damien, you don't need to worry about him so much, Sam's going to be fine," Marc replied.

"Marc I... I really like him..." Damien admitted. "Like... gay... like him..."

"I already knew that, you think we'd joke about it if we'd hate you if you really felt that way? No way," Marc replied, placing a hand on Damien's shoulder.

"How'd you know?!" Damien shouted back.

"One hint is the contact name," Marc commented. "And the way you were staring at him in the tent on that camping trip, don't know how he didn't catch on. Damien you give yourself away whenever you see the guy."

"Oh..." he replied. It went silent.

"I don't want to be the one to say this, but you know... one day he won't come back," Marc commented, Damien gave a small nod.
