Chapter 23

Ross' POV

It's been 3 days. Everyone is home and Natalie still hasn't woken up. The doctors say it could be any time now.

I haven't left her side since I've been back. I want to be here when she wakes up. I haven't slept much either.

Juliet got released, but she stays with me. She's an amazing girl. Her and Natalie are a lot alike.

Their grandma, Valerie, she told me to call her Val; got here the day after everything happened.

Rob got arrested and sentenced to 10 years in prison. I guess he had other crimes besides abusing the girls.

Lindsey got arrested to. The day after Natalie got back, she tried to steal from a corner store. She got caught. She'll be in jail for a year and also has to go to rehab for 6 months to a year when she gets out.

Val got custody of Natalie and Juliet. She said that Natalie can stay with me. Her grandma is awesome.

My parents said it was okay. There's a room in the basement that we never use, so while Nat's still in the hospital, it's being painted and her stuff is being moved over.

Since Val lives in Ohio, Juliet has to move. It's going to be hard for Nat. It's going to be hard for me too. Juliet and I haven't left each-others side the last couple days.

The three of us, me, Jul, and Val, were all in Natalie's room. We were talking about what's going to happen when she wakes up.

We look over at her, and she starts to move a little. I go over to her bedside and start talking to her.

Her eyes open.

"Ross." She says, "what happened?"

Val goes to get the doctor.

Dr.Jones comes in and starts asking her questions. The last thing she remembers is Rob smacking her across the face and her falling.

The doctor leaves and she asks me what happened to her mom and Rob. I tell her everything.

"What's going to happen to Jul?" She asks me.

"She's moving back to Ohio with your grandma."

Natalie's POV

I began to cry when Ross told me what's going to happen to Juliet.

I was glad when he told me that Rob got arrested and sent to jail, and was also kinda happy when he said that my mom got a year too. She doesn't deserve to be free when she dated a guy who did that to us.

The rest of the day Ross is by my side. He's constantly asking me if I need anything. I love that he cares so much about me.

Juliet and grandma left about an hour after I woke up. They had to start packing.

I can leave tomorrow afternoon. I start to get tired and kick Ross out. He needs to go home and sleep. He looks like he hasn't slept in a week.

"You have to go." I say.

"I don't wanna." He says pouting.

"Go home!" I'm demanding it now; "You need sleep!"

"I don't need it." He says yawning.

"Yes, you do. Go home. I'll see you in the morning."

"Fine."

He walks over and kisses my forehead.

When he leaves, I fall asleep.
