I was walking outside with my mommy. She was holding my hand. "I'm so proud of you Janai. You have become this amazing woman". "Thanks mom I will be gong to college in the fall. I'm really taking art seriously". "Well isn't that something.. I uh been getting help Janai. I've been three weeks cleaned now. I just I can't go back to that house with him". "Mom we can get you your own place. I can help you." "I'll do anything to have you in my life". "Thanks mama".

"You know that Khodie is something. I like her I do. I see why you guys are together. You two compliment each other beautifully". "Aw thank you mama that means a lot". "Alright well I guess I'll head back home.. can I see you tomorrow". "Yes you can". "Good night". I kissed my mother goodbye.

Khodie walked up to me and kissed me. "Let's go". We were riding in the car and I fell asleep. "Hey wake up" she gently shook me. I open my eyes we are at her house. "Why are we here?". "Just come on Bae".

We went inside and Charlie was in the living room. My dad came down stairs and sat in a chair. Janai tried to sit in a chair but Charlie wouldn't let her move. "Charlie.. move you see Janai is trying to sit down". She moved her foot and Janai sat down. "Now I don't know what's going on with you Charlie but this feud you got with Janai has to stop". "What feud I just don't like her is all".

"Why don't you like me? I've never done anything to you". "Because your a little gold digging slut whose just after her money". "Oh please... Charlie I love her.. not her money". "Charlie just leave her alone okay. If you don't have anything nice to say to her just leave her alone". "But there is a lot I want to say".

"What like your a complete self absorbed bitch. That is obsessed with her sisters relationship. Your too sad and annoying to find yourself a man. Wait no one wants to be with you because your annoying and basic as fuck. You just don't want to see your sister happy because your not happy. That's sad". Charlie got up and got in my face. "Yeah maybe I'm basic. Maybe I'm not happy. But you walking around here with my mothers ring on your finger as if you don't know what Khodie did".

"What are you talking about Charlie..". She smiled deviously at me and looked at Khodie. "Wow so you don't know. What Khodie did?". "Charlie that's not your place to say". "Dad you always had her back. It's like you never cared how I felt. You do any and everything for Khodie but not me. I've always hated that. Like how you just help her cover everything as if she's not crazy. She killed her and you just let her do it".

Charlie starts crying, "You just let her do it. She took the most precious thing from me. And you just covered it up. You always cover things up for her. I get it she's your favorite but I'm your daughter too and I deserve respect and happiness and love. I'm hurt daddy. And it's like you don't even care. You don't care about me".

He came up and hugged Charlie, "Sweetie I do care about you.. you are my daughter I love you. There's just something's you don't understand". She pushed him away. "Please don't talk to me like I'm a child. I'm a grown woman.... a grown woman who is scarred for life. So thank you". She walked away up the stairs and her dad followed.

I just sat there in awe. Like what the fuck just happened. Khodie looked at me with remorse. "Listen... it's not what it seems". She tried to touch my face and I moved out of the way. My breathing became shaking. I called an uber. I ran outside as fast as I could I waited for my uber.

She followed right behind me. "Janai wait". "Please just leave me alone". "Just listen to me" she tried to grab my hands. "Don't touch me... stay away from me" my uber came and I hopped in it. I just looked at her as the driver took off.
