"I can't see. Guys, I can't see!" I put my hands on my eyes. I stood up.

"What do you mean you can't see?" Lucas asked worriedly.

"I mean, I can't see!" I didn't know which way to face. "The light, it flashed. What was that?"

"That was you, you did that." He answered. "Let's go to the lab, maybe my parents can help." I nodded and began walking aimlessly to where I hoped was the exit. But instead I hit the customer service table. "Woah, you're blind. Right." I got chills as I felt Lucas' arm around my waist. He guided me with his left arm, while standing to right. "Just stay with me and you'll be fine."

"Hey, I'm going to be late if I go with you guys. I've gotta be home soon, so you might as well just drop me off on your way." Then a realization hit me.

"Wait, I can't go home like this! My mom will freak out. Cass? Can I stay at your house tonight?"

"Sorry, I've got a date tonight." I didn't ever remember her mentioning a date but I didn't give it much thought. "Stay at Lucas'."

"Yeah right, like my parents would let a girl sleepover. I don't even think I've ever had a friend sleepover." I looked over to where I thought his face was. I gave him my best begging face.

"Please? They can test my eyes and then we tell them I'm leaving but I'll just stay. And tomorrow we can say I came over early to hang out." I heard him sigh.

"Okay fine."

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" I exclaimed. I could sense him smiling next to me.

We dropped Cassidy off at our building but she also grabbed me a few things from my apartment. Then Lucas and I set off for his house.

"So, do you like your new haircut?" I asked.

"Actually, I do. Even I was getting sick of the old one." We sat in an uncomfortable silence until we pulled into his garage. I felt him grabbed his shopping bags from next to my feet and I heard his car door open. Before he shut it he said, "Wait, I'll help you." I groaned. His door shut and mine opened. I put my backpack on my back. I felt his hand grab mine and help me up. I felt like I was starting to get the hang of being blind but then my head hit the roof of the car where the door and the roof meets.

"Lucas!" I exclaimed as I fell back into my seat grasping my head.

"Sorry!" He said and took my hand again. This time he leaded me out of the car safely. He lead me once again with his arm around my waist. I heard the door that connected the garage to the house open. Lucas helped me up the stairs and we walked in. I had no idea where we were or who was in the room so I just stood there.

"Uh, the mall must've been fun." I heard his mom say awkwardly. She must've been surprised to see her son with an arm around a girl.

"Well it was, until the same metahuman attacked and Emily was blinded." I heard a chair scrape the floor and fast footsteps coming towards me.

"Oh sweetie! What happened?"

"I think she has another power. It was like she blasted him with light. The light blinded her, and now she can't see." Lucas explained it for me so I just stood there silent. I heard his mom walk away.

"We are going to the lab, okay?" Lucas said. I nodded. He guided me through what must've been the dining room and to where the stair case was. He went first and held my hand and I followed behind. I stumbled over my own feet and I yelped as I fell forward. I expected to face plant onto the floor but luckily Lucas caught me. I felt my face blush as I pulled myself out of his arms. I heard him chuckle almost silently. He lead me to the lab and pulled up a chair for me.
