There's only one person in this world that I truly hate. No, she's not a villain, well, not technically. She's  even worse. My dad's mom, my grandma.

Remember, my dad is a criminal and this is the woman that raised him. No wonder he turned out that way. When he was a kid, they had practically nothing. He was taught that the rich were to blame for all of their problems. Which in turn led him to steal money from the rich and give it to the poor. So yeah, I blame her for me having to grow up without my dad and sister.

You can imagine that how thrilled I was to hear that my grandma and grandpa were staying with us for a week. A week. My mom told me and I almost passed out. I anticipated all of the insults towards me she'd come up with. I was too skinny, ugly, lazy, had no manners, and would never get a boyfriend. Well I guess they were wrong about the last one.

My grandpa, however, is the quietest man I've ever met. He seems nice, but never stands up for me or tells his wife she's being rude.

Oh, and they were coming that night. They'd be there after school. So of course I planned to stay at Lucas's for as long as possible. All day I dreaded it and ranted to Lucas during our chemistry lab.

"They are terrible. I don't know how I'll survive." I groaned as Lucas dropped a few drops of hydrochloric acid onto the magnesium in the bottom of the test tube. It began bubbling and producing a gas.

"They can't be that bad." He said. "Everybody thinks their grandparents are annoying. My papa always tells me I'm a foot too short for my age. Wait until he sees me this summer, I'm not 5'6" anymore." He grinned.

"No, my grandma calls me stupid and ugly, stuff she thinks I could never fix." Lucas stopped writing and looked at me.

"Do you want me to come over for dinner? Maybe they'll be better if they have a guest." He suggested.

"Maybe tomorrow night, she'll probably be too tired tonight to yell at me. Tomorrow it'll be bad." He nodded and resumed his writing. "Maybe I can stay over for a few nights. I'll say we have a project or that I'm staying at Cass's." Lucas nodded. I had a terrible feeling in my stomach for the rest of class making it hard to focus on anything.

After school I hung out at Lucas's until my mom texted me, asking where I was. I responded that I was one my way home and left Lucas's. I was home in a minute and slowly opened the door. On the couch were my grandma and grandpa. Both had beers in hand which wasn't a good sign. Although my grandpa was just as quiet when he's drunk, my grandma was the opposite. I tried going to my room without getting their attention.

"Look who finally decided to show up. What were you doing? Avoiding your grandparents who drove all the way up here to see you. Ungrateful bitch." My grandma spat, taking a gulp of beer. I turned around taking in a calming breath.

"Actually, I was at my boyfriend's house." Honestly, I just said it to rub it in her face. My grandma rolled her eyes.

"What? You pay him, or is he just in it for the sex?" I clenched my teeth at her obnoxious remarks. I didn't answer, not knowing how to without making her come back with something worse. I turned around and headed to my room. "Hey! I'm talking to you!" She growled. But I ignored her and walked into my room locking the door behind me. I knew it would only get worse from here so I went straight to sleep.
