we need to talk

I'm sitting in History, unable to concentrate, unable to move.

Not long after what happened yesterday, he left. It was too awkward.

Now it's all I can think about.

I can't help but glance over at Kevin, who's started sitting next to me.

He notices and glances back at me, but I've already looked away. So I look back at him, and he looks back at me. He smiles, and I return it. I feel my chest get hot, and butterflies start to flutter around in my stomach.

I look away, smirking and try my best to pay attention to this fucking history lesson.

I hate history.

The bell rings and I ultimately decide that I just won't learn anything new today.

He's on my mind all the time and I just don't know how to stop it.

I'm like, obsessed with him or something, and I really don't want to be.

I meet Addison and Rachel for lunch and go to sit at our regular table. They sit on one side and I go to sit on the other.

"So, what did you do with Kevin yesterday?" Rachel asks and I roll my eyes.

"Nothing you should worry about." I lie.

"You're lying." Addison says. "You're totally fucking us over! What did you guys do?"

"We... Almost kissed." Rachel smacks the table. It wasn't loud, but we did get a few stares from the table beside us.

"No you did not!" She says, "Oh my God, Morgan! Do you know what this means?"

"Kind of..."

"He totally likes you!"

"No..." I say, trying to ignore it.

"Shut up! Do you know what someone like Ashley Edwards would do to be in the position you're in? Hell, she'd kill to even get a chance to sit on the same couch as him."

"Yeah, but she's a psychopath."

"Who's a psychopath?" I hear a familiar voice behind me. Kevin comes to sit next to me and I tense up.

"Nobody. Why are you sitting here?"

"Eh, for fun." Julian and Natasha come to sit with us too. I notice Jack Anderson in the corner of my eye. He looks over at me, hopeful, but I just look away.

I'm not really mad at him for what happened at that party, when Kevin went to the hospital. But that doesn't mean I like him.
I know that Kevin doesn't hate me, so I wasn't really angry with him after we cleared things up, but what he said still hurt, even if he was stressed out and scared. We just haven't resolved things yet.

Kevin notices and glances over at me.

"What happened with you guys?"

"It's a long story. I'll tell you after."

"Okay. Is... Everything alright?" He whispers. His voice gets lower and I can feel his breath against my ear. It shoots a shiver down my spine. I simply nod, unable to find words. I still feel his eyes on me so I turn to look at him. His eyes search mine, looking for any sort of emotion.

"Everything's fine." I assure him.

"Get a room, why don't you?" Natasha says, rolling her eyes.

"Shut up, Natasha." Kevin says, swinging an arm around me and pulling me closer.

I can feel my cheeks getting hot and decide to play along. I rest my head on Kevin's chest. We stare at each other for a moment and laugh, and for a second I feel good, like everything is how it's supposed to be. I think back to that almost kiss we had, and remember that this was almost the position we were in when we were sitting on my couch.
