first kiss

I've always dreamed about my first kiss.
It was supposed to be on my wedding day, when I married a prince and we would live together in our castle and have a happily ever after.

Obviously, my plans have changed since then. Now I just want it to be magical, with the right person, at the right time.

No princes, no castles and definitely no weddings.

And right now feels like the right person, and the right time.

But I'm afraid.

Kevin's hands are on my waist, as I sit on the hood of my car, and he stands between my legs. It's a perfect moment. I reach up and place my hands on his shoulders, and he leans in, so close...

And then the universe fucking ruins it for me again.

"What the fuck!" I hear a screeching voice coming from behind me. I pull away quickly, pretending like we weren't about to kiss.

"Emily! Fuck off!" I yell, earning a laugh from Kevin. She walks over to my car, covered head to toe in blue food dye from that slushie earlier.

"You seriously asked her to prom instead of me? I hope you know you've totally ruined your chance of being crowned prom king, Kevin! How could you! You... Asshole!"

"Emily," he says, "I hope you know that you're the only one who cares about being crowned prom queen or whatever. You're going to get it, because nobody else wants it, and, yes, I am taking Morgan to prom instead of you, because you're a stuck up, rude, unbelievably annoying slut."

"There are plenty of guys on the football team for you, Emily. Oh, like Grant Hughford." I say, reffering to the greasiest guy in school who just so happens to be on the football team. Kevin laughs at me, because it was a pretty good joke. She nearly screams in disgust.

"No fucking way. Watch out, Morgan. This won't last long."

"Yes it will!" I say, as she starts to walk away. "And, I hope you know that you literally just said that in front of Kevin, so he knows what your plans are."

"Exactly. I don't know who's stupider, Emily. You, or Grant Hughford. You guys would make the perfect couple!" Kevin yells, and I can practically see the steam coming out of her ears.

She turns around and storms off, probably in the direction of her million dollar car.

I feel like a bitch, but at the same time, it feels so good.

"Who fucking cares what Emily thinks?" Kevin says. "Now, where were we?" He asks, earning a laugh from me. I wrap my arms around his shoulders again.

"It doesn't feel right anymore!" I say, resting my head on one of my arms and frowning.

"I know, I tried. Sorry."

"It's okay." I say, lifting my head back up.

"What do you want to do now?"

"Go home."

"Why go home when you could go do something on that list of yours?"

"You're right." I say, as he pulls the list out of his phone case. "I love that you always have that list on you."

"It's the most important thing in my life." He says, "besides you, of course." I start to profusely blush as he goes down the list, reading all the things we still have left.

"You know, I think I want to do something nice for Liam. He told me not to give up on you, and I didn't. He helped me through a really rough point and I think he deserves something for it."
