Kevin's point of view
"Nat is having a girl." Julian says, which makes the feeling of our friends having a baby so much more real.
"Nice." Ben says, "did you want a boy?"
"Kind of, but I'm okay with having a girl."
My phone rings.
"Hello?"
"Kevin, uh, I'm at the hospital." I immediately recognize Liam's voice, and I'm instantly worried.
"What? Why? Is everything okay?"
"N-no." He stumbles, "It's Morgan."
"W-what happened?"
"It was a car, she got hit."
"What?"
"I think..." He stops, "I think you should come down here." I feel a pit in my stomach and my face turning white.
"Okay." I say, quietly, and hang up the phone.
"What?" Nolan says, "who was that?"
"Morgan's brother. I have to go."
"Where?"
"The hospital." Julian stands up and walks with me to the door.
"Do you need a ride?" He asks me, but for some reason I can't figure out what he's trying to ask.
"He thinks she's going to die." I tell him, and his face turns white.
"But there's four months-"
"There was a car."
"She got hit by a car?" I nod, and he puts a hand on my shoulder. "Come on, I'll drive you." We get into his car and he drives me there.
She could die. I keep telling myself, even though I try to stop. She could die today.
I eventually find Liam, sitting in the lobby. He looks numb. His skin is pale and he's sitting frozen where he is.
"Liam?" I ask, and he looks at me. He stands up and shakes his head.
"It doesn't look good."
"Can we see her?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"I don't know."
I hear Julian in the corner of the room talking to someone.
"You need to come here. Now." He says, "call Rachel and Addison, and get here as soon as you can." It's Natasha.
How could this be happening?
"I saw the girl." Liam says. "She just drove away."
"Who was she?" I ask him.
"I don't know."
"What did she look like?"
"Blonde. Long hair. Wavy. Skinny. Even through the window I could tell, she had bright blue eyes. Small mouth. Small nose. I can't get the image out of my head."
"Ashley." I whisper.
"What?"
"Ashley Edwards."
"Red Fiat?" He asks, and I can't believe my ears.
"Yeah." I whisper. "Liam, I hate to tell you this, I don't think it was an accident." Liam's face falls and I put a hand on my shoulder. "She's going to be okay."
