Evan's POV
"W... who...?" I questioned, glaring at the almost colourless man infront of me. "Oh, don't you recognize me? It's odd that I don't appear to be familiar to you." He sarcastically commented. "I am now known as Darkiplier. Mark is long gone now.~" He grinned, a mischievous look sparking in his eyes.
"M-- U-uh, Darkiplier....!" Y/n began, trembling as she gripped my arm tightly. "You two seem oddly close, a shame if the king found out~" Darkiplier purred teasingly, sounding more threatening than playful.
"Y/n, go. I'll hold him off." I shrugged her off my shoulder and equipped myself with my cutlass sword. "Oh, but I'm not after you, fire-boy. I'm after the girl, of course~" He mused, sliding his hand behind his back. Y/n hesitated, before running into the forest.
"Oh, I'll let her find her hiding spot before we begin our game of hide-and-seek, but let's play a game together beforehand." Dark revealed his arm from behind himself, a cloudy dark mist surrounding his entire hand. "Oh, our little game won't be as short as you think." I smiled, covering up my fear and bottling it all up inside.
"Well, L-- L-- Leț'ş płąý~" He seemed to have his speech sliced up and played over again, as the mist formed a long, sharp-looking sword in his hand. I secured my grip and swung at him, narrowly missing. He swung back at me, as I flipped out of the way just in time. I charged at him, aiming for his chest. I didn't get a chance to even damage him before he gripped the blade of my cutlass and pulled me toward him, grabbing my collar.
Y/n's POV
I gasped silently, hiding in a tree and beginning to witness Mark's other form decide to grab Evan by the neck. I felt anger boil away all my fear and hesitation in that moment as I grabbed an incredibly thick branch, snapping it off and taking it with me as I crept up behind Dark. Raising it above my head, I swung it down and struck Dark in the back of the head. However, he was unfazed by this action. As he turned around to look at me, I realised my mistake.
"Oh, so the little princess has come out to play, has she?" He grinned, dropping Evan and grabbing my arm. I struggled in his grasp.
"I'll end your suffering quickly, as every cliche moment happens when the villain makes a stupid, long-ass speech and takes their sweet, sweet time to accomplish their goal. What would you prefer, you're neck being snapped, or a knife through your abdomen? I'll let you choose." He smiled. Hypocrite, I thought to myself.
"Neither." I spat, clawing at his loose grip around my throat. "Well, I guess cutting off your airway is an option." He tightened his grip, slowly suffocating me. I gasped for oxygen, clawing at his hands rapidly.
Vanoss POV
I looked up, seeing Darkiplier holding Y/n by her neck. Something, like before, snapped inside me as I watched her squirm in his grip. A fiery, burning feeling erupted inside me, as a reddish golden hue filled my vision. My mind was filled with only one, repetitive thought; SAVE HER.
My hands felt like they were dipped in lava, and yet, it didn't feel painful. I didn't have time to think about it as I flew at Dark, tackling him to the ground as he dropped Y/n in the process. I swung my hand to his face, as a mass of fire collided with his shadowy face. He spluttered and shook under me, as I continued to rapidly drown his face in the heated glow.
I watched him closely, feeling as if this were too good to be true. I was right.
Surprisingly, he began to laugh as he slid out from under me. Breaking out into a loud cackle, his eyes turned a pitch black. "It's so unfortunate that you thought you had the upper hand there, Evan." He spat my name out as if it were poisonous.
"You... you were literally suffocated in FIRE!" Y/n cried from behind me. "Unfortunately, I'm not a physical being. Well, unfortunate for YOU. I am not physically able to be damaged in the slightest." He grinned. I grimaced, knowing any attempt to even hurt him would fail. There was almost no way I could harm him. "If that, you're violent attempts to defeat me just heal me." He smiled. I felt terror radiate off Y/n, as she trembled harshly behind me.
"Get away from me..." She breathed, staring in terror at Dark. She was, too, horrified at the thought of an undefeatable monster. "Leave us alone!" She yelled, backing into a tree. "Oh, child, that isn't the point of me coming here. It's to take revenge of my fallen leader~" He mused.
"I won't just give up!" He smiled sweetly, sickening me. "I won't let you defeat either of us." I snarled, feeling something hot and slim form in my hands. A sword-like shape of fire, flickering in the dark of the night. "Well, someone is lying to themselves~" Dark's eyes dilated, and turned completely black.
I blocked his sword with my own, as we began to joust.
Y/n's POV
I watched from afar, as Vanoss and Dark dueled. There was a distinctive pattern in the way they fought, Vanoss ducks as Dark swings a sword directed at his neck, and then Dark has to deteriorate once Vanoss tries to strike him in the chest. Every now and then, someone would role out of the way of a blade coming their way, but that was about it.
I was about to decide to actually sneak away when I heard a sickly plunging sound, like a knife slicing flesh. Just... deeper. I turned around, to see a horrific sight.
Dark, smiling satanically, was holding a misty sword in which was buried inside Evan's stomach. Blood stained his cloak and his face was frozen in shock. There was only one emotion, one mindset that I had.
