Chapter 13

Just a little A/N before the chapter starts to explain something. I have switched Tris' and Nita's solos from back in chapter 10. I believe this will make the story line more interesting and add to the story/drama. Thank you!

Tris P.O.V

The crowd gives a standing applause. I take a few more breaths as I stretch for my solo. For the past couple of days I've been pushing myself so much harder for this dance. I've seen Nita's choreography and personally I think she got a better routine. My solo is called Hero but it doesn't really have any story line. I love Tanya but this is definitely not the best dance she's ever given me. For this dance I'm a little nervous, I mean who wouldn't be? Going up against competition who has better choreography. But this has only pushed me harder. I'm not afraid of Nita and I refuse to let her intimidate me.
"Next we have number 104 dancing 'Hero'." I walk on stage with a smile.

Tris' Dance ⬇️⬇️

I walk off stage, happy with my performance. The gang each congratulate me with a hug. There's two more dances and then Nita.
"Good luck." I say sincerely.
Nita scoffs, "I don't need it." I roll my eyes and go back to my actual friends.
We start talking about random things until we hear Nita's dance be called.

Nita's Dance ⬇️⬇️

Nita smirks at me as she walks backstage.
"Don't worry about her Tris." Lynn says. I nod.
"We have an hour and a half before the duets so lets go." Marlene tells us. We head back to our dressing rooms to get ready. Usually we would have jazz and hip hop routines at the same competitions but today it's just jazz routines. The duets are Lynn and Marlene and then Four and I. I absolutely love our routine! It's more mature as Tanya wanted to show we aren't little kids anymore. When I saw mature I do NOT mean practically having sex on stage, no. I mean more of a fun adult routine.
Unlike Four and my routine, Lynn and Marlene's is not as mature. Their routine looks fun and their costumes are very bright.
My costume is a short sparkly blue dress whereas Tobias is just wearing white jeans. I touch up my makeup from my solo and then take out my pony tail. I curl my hair in big sexy curls. This will be my second routine dancing in heels. I've been practicing for quite a few years in heels but have only done one competition routine in them.

"Has anyone every told you that you look very sexy in blue." Tobias whispers in my ear. I chuckle and playfully shove him.
"Has anyone ever told you, your abs are amazing." I joke and playfully wink.
"I believe someone has!" He grins.
"Let's get practicing!" I suggest.
Tobias and I go into the hall to starting practicing and stretching. The gang give us tips and point out things to make the dance better. We then switch and do the same for Lynn and Marlene. Their routine is looking so good. I love the song!
"Guys time to head backstage." Tanya comes up to us. Everyone heads backstage as the awards are after the duet category.
"I am so excited for this duet!" I say. Now that Tobias and I are good friends and put all the awkward stuff in the past, I really enjoy dancing with him.
"Both of your duets are amazing. You guys are gonna do so well." Tanya pep talks us. We each give her a hug and then Lynn and Marlene are called to the stage.

Lynn and Marlene's Duet ⬇️⬇️ (Marlene:Maddie [Green] Lynn:Kendall [Yellow])

Lynn and Marlene take a bow and then walk off stage with huge smiles on their face. As soon as their not in the audience's eye they jump up and down in a hug.
"That was amazing!" Tanya compliments. Uriah picks Marlene up and spins her around. The next thing I see are their lips attached. They pull apart with massive smiles.
"Mar, will you be my girlfriend?" Uriah asks, breathlessly.
"Of course!" She answers as she puts her feet back on the ground.
"Well finally!!" I scream and rush over to hug my twin.
"Congrats!! Took you long enough!" I hit Uri on the back of the head.
"Ow Triss-" I cut him off with a glare.
The rest of the group congratulates Mar and Uri. Including Lynn who I know has a crush on Marlene. She's never told me but I can just see it.
Why hasn't Lynn ever told me she's a lesbian? Does she not trust me enough even though I'm her best friend?
"Tris come on. They just called us." Tobias shakes me a little. I snap out of it and focus on the dance. I am so ready.

Fourtris' Dance 😂 ⬇️⬇️

I hug Tobias as we finish the dance. That was one of my favourite duets I have ever performed. Plus I didn't fall on my face!! We walk off stage after our bow, Tobias picks me up and throws me over his shoulder.
"I ship it!" The gang yells as I roll my eyes. I just know Tobias is smirking right now.
He finally puts me down. Now we just have to wait four more dances and then awards!
"Guys I am so proud of everyone here. All of you are amazing dancers and everyone who danced today did so well." Tanya smiles at us.
"Don't worry about these awards. It's not about winning, remember that." Her eyes wander to Nita's as she says this. I have to hold in a chuckle.
"I hope you all had fun today and are proud of yourselves."
We head on stage for awards. Solo awards are before duets. Again, I am nervous. I saw Nita on stage, I know she's not a better dancer then me but the choreography was definitely better.
"First we have our solo awards. In fifth place we have number 104 with 'Hero'." My heart sinks. Fifth place? Fifth place?! That is my lowest place ever. I quickly get up and except my medal with a smile. What did I do wrong?
"In third place we have number 101 with 'Electricity'." We applaud.
"In second place we have number 113 with 'Oxygen'." Did Nita even place?
"And in third place we have number 107 with 'All I Want'!" Nita got first place? I be polite and clap for her.
"Congratulations Nita." I smile at her but she just scowls and turns away. Can't she even just try to be nice? The soloists sit back down. I know Tanya said it's not all about winning and for me, it's not. I just feel disappointed in myself for getting fifth place. I could've pushed myself harder.
Tobias grabs my hand and gives it a squeeze but I drop my hand in my lap.
"Next we have our duet awards. In third place we have 409 with 'Passion is Fire'."
"In second place we have 400 with 'The Freeze'." Did one of us not place?
"And in first place... we seem to have a tie! With 414 'Bodies Electric' and 416 'Ocean Surf'." Lynn, Marlene, Tobias and I jump up and hug with excitement. We collet our trophy sit back down.
After the awards we all head back stage and into the dressing room.
"Congratulations Nita, Tris, Four, Lynn and Marlene. You all did very well." I start to pack up and get dressed back into my normal clothes. Today I came to the competition with Lynn as everyone came separately.
Once Lynn is ready, we say goodbye to the team and get going. I just want to go home and then the club.
"Tris don't worry about getting fifth place. Everyone knows you're an amazing dancer." Lynn insists.
"But it's not all about that Lynn! I feel like I'm letting myself down!" I explain and sigh.
We stay in silence for most of the ride.
"I have something to tell you." Lynn says quietly. I nod for her to go on.
"I like Marlene, more than a friend." She admits, finally.
"I know."
"What?"
"Lynn, I'm your best friend. I know you. I can see it."
"Are you disappointed in me?" She questions.
"Of course not! I do believe you could've told me earlier but I would never be disappointed because you like girls." I tell her honestly.
"Thank you." She smiles.
