The next day she was alone sitting next to Obi wan's bed. He was still asleep. Satine wanted to talk to someone with the same amount of Force knowledge as her. She contemplated calling Bail Organa. She hadn't known him very well in life but she learned he was a friend of Obi wan when he arrived at the Valley. They had become good friends. Bail had been so busy with a case at the court and he had yet to know about Obi wan's condition. Satine sighed. She looked down at Obi wan and caressed his face. He didn't stir. She remembered when they met. They had been young then. Young and unburdened. She had known that he would've left the Order for her but she couldn't ask it of him Because he so loved being a Jedi. Then she had heard that his master had been killed and he had become a Knight. Then he had taken an apprentice and she thought he had lost him forever. Than he came and helped her on her ship voyage. After that he had come alone to save her from the man who had killed his master and almost killed him. Than he killed her. Obi wan had barely escaped. She sighed again. Why hand't she just stoped him from going to face Sidious. This could have been avoided. A month! A whole month. She realized she was holding his hand. Just as he was about to remove it, his cold fingers tightened around hers. His eyes opened and he turned his head towards her, a slight smile on his lips.
"Hey, Satine." Obi wan whispered.
Her eyes filled with unshed tears and she smiled back at him. "Hi. How are you feeling?"
He frowned. "Honestly, not great." She could tell that he was glossing it over so she wouldn't worry. He looked more awake than yesterday, his eyes clearer. His voice was a little stronger. He looked around the room, careful not to move much. He registered his surroundings and then lay still looking drained from his little movements. He looked at Satine then looked down. "I'm sorry I put you through this. I should have been more careful. A month. A whole month." He closed his eyes as if talking tired him.
She lifted his chin gently and smiled. "Obi wan, I'm not mad. You're a hero. I'm worried about you! That thing you did really drained you. I just want you to be okay." Obi wan smiled. She couldn't help herself. She leaned in and kissed him gently. When she pulled back, he was smiling but looked a little stunned. His eyes were a little wide and probably the only thing keeping him from gaping were his numerous years as a Jedi forbidden from showing his emotions. She smiled. He smiled back. Someone knocked on the door and they both jumped. Obi wan winced and said "Come in."
The door opened really fast after Obi wan spoke and Anakin, Ahsoka, Padme, and Bail came rushing in.
Apparently, someone told Bail. He's going to be mad.
Everyone stood around Obi wan's bed. Ahsoka and Padme standing on either side of Anakin on one side of the bed, Bail on Satine's side standing next to her chair. Obi wan smiled at all of them and raised an eyebrow sarcastically. "I don't look that bad, do I?" Everyone cracked up a little to hysterically. All the grief and fear came out in a flood of relief. Eventually, everyone stopped laughing and Obi wan tried to hide his wince of pain but Satine caught it. Apparently laughing hurt him. Anakin looked covertly at Obi wan as if he had seen the wince also.
While Obi wan was engrossed in a conversation with Ahsoka, Bail bent down and said "When were you going to tell me about this?" Satine looked back and answered "You were busy with your case. It was the first serious one for the first time in years. I didn't want to distract you. I was going to tell you once it had slowed down a little." Bail nodded, mollified.
"-sounds like you've been busy, Ahsoka." Obi wan said. She smiled at him and nodded. Satine noticed his eyelids drooping. After all of the excitement he was probably exhausted. She gave Anakin a meaningful look and he nodded almost imperceptibly. Bail and Padme left quietly, and Anakin and Ahsoka finished their conversation.
Anakin smiled at Obi wan and put a hand on Ahsoka's shoulder and said "We have somewhere to be. See you tomorrow, Obi wan." Obi wan nodded drowsily and a look of concern flashed quickly across Anakin's face when Obi wan didn't protest. Usually, Obi wan would've noticed what they were trying to do and protest that he was perfectly fine and make some kind of sarcastic comment. That didn't happen.
Anakin and Ahsoka left leaving Satine alone with Obi wan. His eyes had closed and his breathing had deepened. Knowing he would be fine she rose to leave and kissed his forehead before closing the door behind her.
