Obi wan gasped. Pain in his chest was so intense that he couldn't see or hear. Everything was blank. There was nothing but excruciating pain filling his chest with fire. Slowly, his hearing returned. He heard a commotion-people bustling about in a frenzy, someone was crying-a woman. He thought he should know her. She was important to him. What was her name? Satine, that was right. Her name was Satine and he loved her.
There were other familiar voices-a man. Who was he? He was Anakin, the man he had almost died with many times. The one who was like his brother.
The other voice-another woman. She sounded younger than Anakin but not childish. Where did he know her from? Oh, that was right. This was Ahsoka, Anakin's old apprentice and someone he cared about deeply.
His hearing began to fade and he thought No! No! I can't leave them!
He struggled until he heard Force's voice, less than a whisper. "Well done, Obi wan. Worry not, this is not death. This is merely slumber." Then there was nothing more.

Satine felt the heartbeat strengthen under head. The life monitors beeped weakly. She looked up at Obi wan's face and it was contorted in pain. She called for the doctors. When they came running they were shocked but they set to work immediately. Satine hadn't realized she was crying again until she felt the drops wet her dress. This time they were tears of relief. Anakin looked like she felt-like all the weight in the galaxy had lifted off his shoulders. He collapsed into a chair next to her and put his face in his hand. Ahsoka leaned against the wall like all her strength had gone out of her. Satine felt similar. All she could think was He's alive, he's alive. He'll be okay.
Eventually the doctor and nurses moved away and reported that they had done all they could and time would tell. Then they left. No one moved for a full minute then they all moved in tandem, rushing towards Obi wan. He looked more peaceful and the steady beeping of the monitors ensured that he was alive. He was alive.
Satine took his hand and looked at his face. He still appeared to be in pain but less of it. His chest wound was covered in a bactapatch and he was breathing shallowly. But he was breathing. Satine was afraid to let go of him for fear he would disappear.
Padme, Bail, and Qui Gon rushed in, concern and fear on their faces. When they saw Obi wan was breathing they let out a collective sigh of relief. Everyone took their customary spots: Qui gon against the back wall, Padme, Anakin, and Ahsoka standing on one side of the bed, Bail standing next to Satine's chair. Satine was holding Obi wan's hand. Everyone stayed unmoving for a very long time, listening to the beeps that recorded Obi wan's heartbeat. Eventually, Qui gon left, then Bail, then Ahsoka, then Padme. Anakin  stared down at his mentor and best friend. He didn't move. Neither did she. They both afraid to leave for the fear he would not be here when they returned. Finally, Anakin sighed. "I have to go. Padme's expecting me." He said quietly. She nodded. "Go. I'll stay with him." He nodded and gave her a look of thanks before leaving. He closed the door quietly behind him leaving her alone with Obi wan. She bent down and kissed him gently, afraid to disturb him. He didn't stir but Satine thought she saw him smile just a little in his sleep.
