Chapter 13:first round of the tournament

How much longer till we reach route 5 already!" Rose complained as the group of three continued walking towards the route where the tournament was going to be held"according to the map we should be reaching route 5 in 20 Minutes" Tom said as the group continued heading down route 4. Rose groaned and continued walking as a few shinx and skidoo scattered away. Just then Adam saw a group of 10 trainers walking along the same route"you guys here for the route 5 tournament as well?" Adam asked as the trainers nodded"yeah we all got tournament passes and there are going to be 5 rounds with 32 competitors" a trainer said to Adam"ok well I wish you guys luck on your way to the tournament" Adam said as the group decided to take a shortcut. The shortcut unfortunately for rose was through an old and very spooky graveyard which seemed to have no around except for a lone female trainer who seemed to be talking about death a lot and how fun it was. A few ghost types such as gastly and Yamaska greeted them spooking rose out as she swatted at them which had no effect since they we ghosts. A few Murkrow,cubone and gothia also occupied the space in the old graveyard"I'm so glad to leave there" rose said as the finally cut through the grave yard and only now had 5 minutes to reach their destination. Adam sent out absol so that they could arrive at the are where the tournament was being held faster as the whole group got on before absol started running quickly towards the sounds of what seemed to be like a tournament.

"Ladies and gentle man,boys and girls may I welcome you to the annual route 5 tournament!" A man in a mask said as all the trainers looked at the man"it is my pleasure to say that this is our 30th year as running as tournament holders and we are very excited to see what skills you have as trainers" the man said again before revealing a large Tv which would show all the matchups when an hour passed since only 25 of the 32 people had arrived at the route 5 tournament so far. The man had gotten news that prince Ryan had given his place at the route 5 tournament to Adam who would be battling instead.

"Well the matchups will be revealed now!" The man said as the Tv flashed on showing that Adam would be facing of against a guy called max and his round number was going to be 5" Adam watched the first round as one trainer had an magikarp,feebas and electrivire while the other trainer had an luvdisc,eevee and an magmortar. Which the second trainer winning. The second round trainer had a scizor,piloswine and a sceptile while the other had a heracross,gible and a torterra. The one with the heracross won. The third round passed quickly with a trainer with a Dewott winning while the fourth round had a trainer with a bagon winning. Finally Adam met his opponent who was max while they were getting ready for bed since the next four matches would take place tomorrow"nice to meet you Adam" max said as a starfish like pokemon came which the pokedex identified as staryu"so that's a staryu cool!" Adam said as the staryu jumped and twirled around in the air before doing a 360 spin and landing on the table"I use him for some of my battles max said as he petted staryu before returning it to its pokeball"well I'm going to call it a day" max said as he got up and left the restaurant.

"Well that sure was a good meeting" rose said as Adam nodded"well what are we going to do after the tournament if Adam loses in his match against max?" Tom asked as Adam shrugged it of"I'm probably not going to lose in my battle against max"well what if you feel camera shy?" Tom asked as Adam looked at him as if he was dumb" I have competed in 6 leagues why would I feel shy" Adam asked as his absol approached Adam and nuzzled his hand causing Adam's hand to pet the dark type. Just then froakie hopped out and bounded over to absol before the two started talking in their own language. Just then max reappeared"by the way I didn't catch your names" max said to Tom and rose"oh my name is rose" rose said giving a little wave"and my name is Tom" tom said as he accidentally tripped over vulpin and fell flat on the floor.

The next morning Adam and max reached the arena where they would be battling. They had a little bit of preparation time and training time so Adam decided to use the first half of his time planning a strategy as he decided to put froakie out there first. Then Adam practiced training froakie on absol before the actual match against max would begin as the water type damaged the dog a bit. Before froakie was about to hop of towards the battle field it got some words of advice from absol and Adam's two other Pokémon who would be waiting in their pokeballs. Adam recalled the three Pokémon who were not going to battle"this will be a three on three Pokémon battle,the winner is chosen when either sides team is unable to battle and then the winner advances to round two,substitutions are allowed in this battle!" The referee yelled out.
