Chapter 6: crushing defeat

Adam and his Pokémon were running through route 4 to get some extra training so that they could beat the silvent city gym and get their first gym badge"Adam are you not going to eat breakfast?" Tom shouted as Adam turned around and nodded since he realized he had skipped dinner the last night"well guys I think training is done for today" Adam said as he recalled all his Pokémon to their pokeballs. Adam began to wolf down his breakfast of eggs,toast,sausages and pancakes before he went down to the phone where he could contact the Pokémon lab in hopes of being able to contact professor cypress"hello is professor cypress at the lab?" Adam asked as he downloaded the phone app on to his pokedex so that he could contact professor cypress on the go"he is not currently at the lab" his assistant David said as Adam decided to get apps for his pokedex. He quickly got a Pokémon app so he could check his Pokémon stats,a calculator app to handle money at the store and a pedometer app just for some fun and to see how much he had walked"well Adam the gym has been prepared and Chad is waiting for the afternoon" Tom said as Adam nodded and watched some tv until the afternoon came and it was time to head towards the gym for his first gym battle in the roria region. He entered the gym which looked like a club confidently.

"Well Adam it seems that you are ready for our gym battle usually It would be a two on two battle but just recently I have caught a third Pokémon" Chad said as he threw out his pokeballs to show Adam which Pokémon he would be using"a shinx,elektrike and pikachu will be battling you" Chad said as adam nodded and took his place In the trainers box.

"Alright then elektrike I chose you!" Chad said as he recalled both his pikachu and shinx"so your using elektrike to start things of huh?" Adam said as he threw wurmples pokeball out making the worm groggily appear"well this could turn out to be an interesting battle" Chad said as both the wolf and the worm head towards the center of the battlefield where they would battle"this battle will be 3 on 3 and only the challenger may substitute Pokémon while the gym leader can not, the battle ends when either sides pokemon are unable to battle, the challenger may have the first move!" The referee said as Adam rubbed his hands together but not before he scanned the Pokémon on his pokedex to see what moves elektrike had. Adam learned that elektrike had lots of electric type moves and a howl move which would increase its attack.

"Alright wurmple lets start this battle of by using a tackle attack on manectric!" Adam shouted as the tiny bug rushed up and slammed into the wolf like Pokémon. However the elektrike barley flinched as it just looked down at the tiny bugs feeble attempts"alright manectric use spark!" Chad shouted as a bolt of electricity slammed into wurmple causing her to cry out in pain as she continued being shocked"wurmple hang in there!" Adam shouted as wurmple regained its focus and dodge the next spark attack"ok wurmple use string shot to trip up elektrike and then slap it with the same piece of string!" Adam shouted. Chad could only watch as his elektrike was tripped up and then slapped across the head with the same string that had been used to make it trip"manectric try stand up!" Chad shouted as manectric got back on its feet and growled.

Both Pokémon were staring to grow weak and both the trainers new that one last attack would finish either one of them. Elektrike growled again as Chad ordered it to use tackle. However wurmple jumped over the wolf and used string shot to hang on to the roof of the gym as the wolf growled angrily at not being able to reach its opponent. Adam smiled"ok wurmple use tackle!" Adam shouted as the worm let go and charged head first towards the other Pokémon"ok elektrike use quick attack!" Chad shouted as both Pokémon charged towards each and caused a medium sized impact. After hitting each other both Pokémon fainted and were recalled to their pokeballs"both Pokémon are unable to battle,choose your next Pokémon both of you" the referee shouted

Tom looked on as Chad sent out his shins while Adam sent out his froakie"well it looks like we both have two Pokémon left" Chad observed as Adam nodded"well not for long even though you don't have any gym badges yet I know you are a tough trainer since you took care of both of power grid problems" Chad smiled gratefully"welcome Chad I'm glad to help anyone any time" Adam said as Chad smiled again"now shinx use charge beam!" Chad ordered as a large beam of electricity was shot out of the Pokémon almost slamming into the Pokémon who dodge at the last second causing both tom and the referee to get shocked by the attack causing Chad to sign and grin a bit sheepishly about what happened to Tom and the referee.

"Froakie use pound on shinx!" Adam shouted. However froakie was forced to dodge another charge beam and then attempted to land the pound attack. However the shinx used a attack Adam had never seen since it was a move that Chad has made up which involved electrifying the electric types body. Adam winced as froakie was shocked by the Pokémons body. "Shrug of the pain froakie and use bubble!" Adam shouted as froakie jumped up an realased the barrage of bubble which all popped on impact with the lion Pokémon causing it to get a bit annoyed with the small frog as it growled"now shinx use charge beam against the bubbles!" Chad said as the beam was shot out of the Pokémon again but this time froakie could not dodge and was hit by the super effective beam causing it to be severely weakened as the shinx smiled.

"Ok froakie you need to use a pound attack!" Adam shouted as the frogs fist turned white and froakie jumped to get ready to punch the small lion"shinx use the electric body technique we practiced!" Chad said as Adam winced again while froakie punched he lion and was severely shocked causing him to faint"froakie is unable to battle,Adam choose your last Pokémon" the referee shouted as Adam looked at absol and nidorino in their pokeballs"its all up to you now nidorino!" Adam shouted as he sent out the dinosaur pokemons pokeball. Nidorino however just looked around lazily and then spotted the opponent. He did not seem to understand what he was supposed to do so Adam briefly explained to him"so nidorino you see that shinx? Our objective is to make him faint by battling him" Adam said as nidorino nodded understandingly. Tom just shook his head"well this could be hard since nidorino has never actually been in a real battle before so it has less experience than absol,froakie or wurmple" Tom waved as Adam smiled at him and got ready to battle.

"Nidorino use double kick!" Adam shouted as the dinosaur ran forward towards the lion and jumped in the air"alright use the technique!" Chad said. However before the technique could be preformed the Dino slammed both legs into the lions head causing it to wince in pain"now nidorino use poison sting!" Adam ordered as the small darts flew out of the dinosaurs horn and straight towards the opposing Pokémon. Meanwhile John had been walking for hours but still could not find the way to brimber so he decided to head back towards silvent so he could get healed up and hopefully eat some prepared food.

Back on the battle field the darts were close towards shinx"shinx use charge!" Chad ordered as the Pokémon became more powerful and quickly smacked into nidorino while it was still charged up"nidorino use double kick!" Adam shouted as the Dino jumped up and tried to slam both his legs into the lions body but Chad was ready for it"use the technique!" Chad shouted as nidorino slammed both legs into its body causing nidorino to get shocked and get a lot of damage. Adam winced as the Dino stumbled around since it was a bit dazed from the electric shock that had come earlier"well nidoran use peck !" Adam shouted as the dinosaur got ready to charge into the small lion and cause it to faint"well it seems that you might win this one except for one thing" Chad said as Adam looked at Chad confused about what he had just said. Tom just shrugged his shoulders and waited for why Adam would not win his first gym badge in roria.

"This!" Chad shouted as shinx shout out a large beam of electricity as nidorino slammed into the lion with its mouth causing a large impact to be created. As the smoke cleared, both Pokémon lay on their side as Adam's confidence quickly turned into sadness"both Pokémon are unable to battle which means Chad is the winner!" The referee said as Adam just stood up along with Tom" i look forward to having a rematch with you Adam"Chad said as Adam just smiled and headed out towards the Pokémon center where he could hopefully learn a bit more about what he was facing. He looked around and found a few books for strategys on how to defeat an electric type Pokémon. However Adam did not manage to learn anything.

"Well I guess we better get back to training" Adam sighed.

So Adam has suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Chad as the title suggested he will have a rematch soon but not after training. Here's the team
