Chapter 19:spark and spirit

The Pokémon contest was going to be hosted near the brimber city gym"hurry up guys we don't want to be late!" Rose shouted as Adam checked the time and saw that they still had a whole hour before the contest started" but we still have an hour!" Adam complained but rose was already far ahead. Finally all of them reached the contest hall where they saw multiple people and their Pokémon practicing for the Pokémon contest. Adam then saw Rose in the line for signing up for the Pokémon contest. Finally after ten minutes Rose managed to get to the desk and sign herself up for the Pokémon contest"well I guess I should send out my Pokémon then" Rose said eagerly as she sent out snivy and kangaskan which both looked excited to be in the contest hall"well guys this is where we will be performing for the judges" Rose said as she pointed to a stage where three people sat in seats and looked bored since the contest had not even started yet"well I'm going to get a soda and hopefully a burger" Adam said as he looked around for any food that could be around. As Rose gulped.

"I bet your excited to be competing in the contest but if you lose I might get angry" Tom said smugly as Rose stared at him coldly causing a lot of tension between the boy and the girl" I suggest we get lunch at the Pokémon center?" Adam said quickly as the group nodded with Rose and Tom still staring coldly at each other. The group arrived at the Pokémon center where there were burgers and orange soda"well I guessed what would be for lunch" Adam laughed as he got a cheese burger and strawberry soda. As he sat down to eat he saw more of the people in contest outfits when he saw a man In a black suit"hello there young man are you interested in Pokémon gyms?" The man asked as Adam nodded"if you ever need help on something feel free to give me a call" the man said as he handed over his phone number so that Adam could contact him. Adam then thanked him and proceeded to eat his lunch along with the group. Adam sighed as he saw Rose and Tom still staring coldly at each other.

"Well I guess now what be a good time to practice for your Pokémon contest" Adam said as the group got up to go to the Pokémon contests building. When the group arrived,Rose instantly sent out her two Pokémon and decided to practice some good ideas for the Pokémon contest"alright snivy use vine whip to tangle around kangaskan!" Rose ordered as her grass snake obeyed and tangled its vines around kangaskan"now kangaskan spin as fast as you can then use Mach punch on the ground!" Rose shouted as the kangaroo span quickly before slamming the group causing the vines on its body to go in a hole in the ground"that was cool!" Adam said as he looked at the vines growing out of the ground"yea I agree it's not really something you would see every day" Sally said as she looked over at the vines. Suddenly flowers grew on it causing the group to be even more impressed except for Tom who just shrugged it off and turned away from the vines. Just then a boy around the same age as Adam came up to them. He seemed to be an experienced Pokémon contest contender since he had a three ribbons.

"That was performance was cool especially for a starter in the Pokémon contests where did you get that good?" The boy asked as rose turned around to face him"oh I know I just started but I guess it just came naturally to me and I decided to do what I felt would be good for the performance" Rose said as she smiled at the boy. Meanwhile Tom was carrying a large Mountain Dew and tripped onto rose spilling it all over her clothes"YOU DID THAT ON PURPOSE!" She screamed as she chased the small boy around the room. Meanwhile the boy with three ribbons introduced himself"Hi I'm Samuel but you can just call me Sam" Sam said as he put out his hand for Adam to shake"Hi I'm Adam nice to meet you" Adam said while Sally greeted Sam as well before deciding to go and break up the fight between the two other travelers"Are you doing contests as well?" Sam asked Adam but Adam just shook his head" no actually I'm doing gym battles" Adam said

One hour passed and it was finally time for the competition to start as the people competing in the Pokémon contest started getting called into the competition hall where the others could watch on screen. Only eight of the sixteen people who had entered would make it to the next round until only two remained. And then the winner would be decided. Rose looked up at the screen as the first person sent out a jigglypuff and a rattata which didn't seem to be a good choice. As expected the jigglypuff swallowed the rattata and the purple rat was never seen again causing the contestant to be eliminated from the Pokémon contest. In the same hour only three more contestants got onto the stage where only two of them made it through to the next round of the contest. In the next hour more people went with two people going up as well. Four more people got up on stage leaving just four other contestants still in the preparation rooms while they watched on the tv
