My eyes had grown too heavy to drive anymore, and I found a truck stop, pulling into that and curled up in the back seat to sleep for a little while.
I awoke after the sun came up and took a moment to watch it, remembering the morning Kyra had taken me to the beach to watch it rise.
Thinking about him made my chest tighten, tears springing into my eyes as I reached for my missing amethyst again, longing for it's familiar weight by my throat.
I came so close to turning around and driving back there, to throw myself into his arms and never let him go.
With any luck, he might still be asleep, and I could tear up that postcard I'd left him. It would be like it never happened.
Everything, everything I felt for him, everything I owed him. There weren't enough damn postcards in the world.
