Chapter 1: Class Boredom

8:25 am. And the class was already starting to fall asleep due to the substitute teacher's slow drawling lesson their teacher had left for them. Just 10 minutes into class at that. Ah, first period history. First period sucked. Almost as much as getting up at 6:00 in the morning. That, and getting chased by the annoying little wiener dog from next door. Almost was tempted to kick it across the street.

To damn early for any of this. All the other students were huddled around the air conditioner, trying to keep cool but you knew better. That stupid thing didn't work half the time. Only made the muggy heat of the early morning worse if it was even possible.

Students coming late and causing chaos. It was shameful, honestly. Embarrassing really but there was nothing you could do about it, other than let the teachers do their so called 'job' and deal with the matter themselves. Yeah right.

Oh, and you were a outcast. What joy that is. You see, your parents both owned the funeral home downtown, and almost automatically, no kid on the whole block wanted to be friends with the creepy quiet girl who's parents worked and prepared the dead for their final resting place. But strangely, you liked the solitude. Who wanted to be around a flock of teenage girls, staring in confusion as they bent over backwards and beyond simply because of a guy walking by.

Ah, the opposite gender. You somewhat envied them. They didn't have to deal with half of the crap females went through. Keyword 'Somewhat'.

Half awake listening to the sub's droning and half asleep was not fun. While the others around can enjoy their empty pleasures, you had your books, manga and video games to keep you happy. That would keep any teen content. Oh, and your laptop at home was a huge bonus to that list.
