The school roof was quiet and empty as always. Good. As much as he hated being away from his soon to be bride, he needed some time to himself. To plan out the next stage in courting you before mating season arrived. Ah, right. He almost had forgot about that. Amethyst orbs closing and leaning back against the fence, letting the cool early morning air calm his heated blood, mind once more drifting into the past. He doesn't like remembering. It was too painful. Too humiliating. Too shameful. He swore to protect his kingdom. His father's kingdom. Her.

But it was all in vain, wasn't it?

No. Not completely. He found you after 5,000 years in darkness. Being sealed away in that damn tomb at the cost of his sanity; damn near lost it utterly have it not been for Vanin's advice on shadow magic. He had to admit, the man's knowledge of that place exceeded that of the royal magicians who summoned the very god beasts themselves in times of peril. He would never forget the first time being in that place. It was mandatory. A requirement and a tool. In order to spite the very gods themselves, you must take their shape. Disrespect them in a way that made them so insulted to the point of where their insipid laughing stopped altogether.

And they quake in fear before you.

''You're still not ready yet. Get up and try again.'' Ragged panting and aching joints, legs shaking from exhaustion. Drained of all mental and physical strength. Willpower fading, just mere food for the monsters here. ''Do you want to join these fools in this hell?'' he winces, coughing up blood as another fist came at him along with a dark glowing orb of shadow. ''Manifest your rage into this realm and let it breathe life! They took everything from you. EVERYTHING!'' his eyes flickered amber for a second. Something within was changing him. ''That's it. Let the recent memories feed your hate. Your pain and hope. You swore you'll find her, did you not?'' His eyes snapped open, staring at the older man in shock.

''Yes! I'd give anything to have her back.'' A raven black claw grips his throat, lifting him off the darkened floor to meet barely glowing green eyes of his new and ever constant servant and comrade. ''Then prove it boy. Don't make me regret giving you this power. I do not have the patience to deal with the weak and hopeless.'' Now he was pissed. ''Weak?! You dare call me that to my face directly?!'' Those green eyes laughed at him. Just like they were doing right now. The grip tightened on his windpipe, near crushing the ability to get oxygen properly before dropping him onto the floor crumbled in a panting heap.

''...Atem. I did not bring you to here to see you fall once more. Quit behaving like a child and stand.'' A annoyed snort came from him as the younger male just barely struggled to simply get up onto his knees. It hurt that much. Did gravity have no effect on him anymore? Another coughing fit of blood came again. At this point, he honestly considered dying if it meant ending this torture Vanin called 'Training'.

No! You dare call yourself a man when everything was taken from you in one night?! You fucking coward!

His breathing came in short gasps as he tried to shake off whatever was eating his insides. This anger wasn't normal. Wasn't human. This fire was literally consuming him from the inside out! The irises in his eyes dilated to slits before switching back to normal. What was happening to him?

Vanin smiled. Oh, he knew what was happening. He just needed one more push. The young king's hatred of the gods were strong but not strong enough to fully denounce them from their realm completely. One of them was nearby. This would be his test. If the lad can defeat Slifer and absorb his power, then their training in this forsaken place of lost souls will be complete. If not, then he will have no other choice but to leave him here alone to continue his training on his own. And he had grown too fond of the spiked hair man to do that. A brother in pain and grief.

''The sky dragon? Here?! What madness is this?!'' Shocked violet eyes turned toward forest green. ''Do not be afraid of him, Atem. This is your final challenge after all.'' He would've laughed if the circumstances weren't so dire. ''You expect me to fight him?!'' He gave the teenage ruler a lazy shrug. ''Either that or I leave you here to let you complete your training alone.'' A thunderous roar from above snapped him out of his stupor. ''He is naught but a beast. Strip away that power, and he is your pet and weapon. Tame him.''

Make the god of the sky know true fear.

The mighty sky dragon had fallen. He almost did too. Almost shocked to death or eaten alive by the inhumanely massive twin mouths covered from top to bottom with razor sharp teeth. Walking up to the large red serpent, placing his hand upon its head. ''Submit and become my vessel.'' The great dragon growled lowly in its throat, cursing at him in ancient Egyptian. A bloodied blade presented itself against its amber eye. ''Obey your king and align yourself to me, sky god.'' The absolute nerve of this pathetic mortal! His aura clashed with the boy's. The millennium puzzle glimmered brightly creating a barrier around its holder.

''I said submit dragon!'' his voice barked. A force so great that it actually sent most of the lurking shadow beasts scattering for their lives. The mental battle of willpower was magnificent. Vanin couldn't believe what he was seeing. This only occurred every 300 years with no success and yet, this boy, this boy king was challenging the very guardian of Osiris himself! The blood red light surged and spiked around his form. Searing his flesh to the point of seeing the bone and marrow but he would not give in. The gods had crossed the line in taking away what and who was his.

He will not let them take his light away again. Never again.

With a fierce yell, his aura over rode the sky dragon's might; melding and sundering the very thunder beast's flesh into his mortal body. Then something happened. Something neither man or divine beast had expected.

A transformation of some sort was occurring. Giant red wings emerged as well as a long tail that swished almost lazily around a black clad leg. ((Picture above))

Vanin howled out a laugh. He done it. The man actually done it! Interlocking a god's power into his own self as a second skin and armor. It was a truly terrifying yet wonderful sight to behold. Bending down upon one knee before the new sky lord, voice hiding traces of his pride. ''...Welcome back, your highness.''
