Sunlight shone through the pale blue curtains of Larosen's living room and onto your sleeping form on his pull out couch. The smell of bacon quickly woke you though. ''Oh. I'm terribly sorry if I had woken you. I figured you'd still want a few more minutes before leaving.'' You shook your head, bed hair not withstanding. ''I-It's fine.'' ''...Ah. Where are my manners? Would you like to have breakfast before we head back?'' your stomach answered for you. You blushed horribly in embarrassment as Larosen chuckled. ''I'll take that as a yes.''
''There you are. Where have you been young lady?!'' Your E/C widen. ''M-Mother?! W-What're you doing...How...?!'' A few of the students 'ooohhhed' at this but you could care less. ''Mother, what're you doing here?'' her lilac eyes narrowed slightly. ''Don't take that tone with me Y/N--'' her eyes then widen at the necklace, almost in shock. ''Is that...?'' you look down at the gem. ''Ah, Ms. Sophia. It's been too long, old friend.'' a small smile ran across your mother's face replacing her shock. ''Yes, it has. Mirien.''
After everything was settled down and calm, the three of you were in your hotel room staring down at the amulet in question. ''So, you found it? In such a short time I see.'' The male laughs nervously under your mother's inquisitive gaze. ''Y-Yeah. It wasn't easy. The king in question, had a pretty hard hold on it.'' her eyes glanced over at him. ''Of course. But back to the matter at hand, Y/N'' You jumped at her voice. ''Y-Yes?'' ''The reason I'm here is due to your father. He's in the hospital for a couple of days and will need you to look after it while I'm at work for the rest of the week.'' Your shoulders slumped, that's what she came across the ocean for?
''Also'' she continued, smiling more now. ''Just to visit family.'' ''Oh.'' After bidding farewell to your mother, Mirien turns towards you. ''Your mother can be scary sometimes.'' You could only laugh at that. ''I guess.'' His eyes then turned serious. ''Come with me. I need to show you something.'' your eyebrows furrowed in worry. ''Is there something wrong with this amulet?'' His expression turned even more serious yet relieved. ''Oh, no. Nothing bad like a curse or any of that.'' The much older section of the library was dusty and full of cob webs. ''Where is it? I know it's around here...ah! Here it is.'' Blowing dust off what appeared to be a old and very ancient looking tome still in pristine condition, he slowly, carefully opens it.
''We found this wrapped in a blood red cloak next to the tomb. It appears to be a tome. But of what origin? We are unsure. Even now, we work tirelessly just to find who this person was and nothing is coming up. No bones left behind, no DNA. Nothing. It's almost as if it or they were never here in the first place.'' ''That's creepy.'' ''A little, yes. But this amulet, why was it inside with the mummy? Normally, something of this hold sentimental value to whom had it with them while living. And the markings on the side of the chain are very unique. Ancient Egyptian obviously but something still doesn't add up with this.'' The two stare down at it. This is both exciting and frustrating. ''Maybe these books can help? A clue at least.'' ''Good idea. You know, I'm very impressed with your enthusiasm, Ms. L/N. Not many teenagers your age have such a strong love for a timeline in history.'' you blush, turning your head away. ''T-Thank You.''
For the next 4 hours, the search had almost turned up with nothing. Not even a curse! ''Gods of the past, why must you make this difficult for us?'' Mirien chuckles at your question. ''I believe it's time for us to go. The library closes at 9 on weekends.'' nodding, the two of you leave but for some reason, you stopped. ''What is it?'' you simply point towards something that was sticking out behind one of the old book cases. ''A secret passage? Y/N, help me pull this back will you?'' It was heavy but easy to move to the side of the wall. ''Where does it lead to? Does the library even know about this?'' ''I'm pretty sure not. But let's check inside at the very least. If it turns out to be nothing but brick and mortar, we'll go.''
Grabbing the torch that was lit at the entry way, the two venture inside. Both unknowing of the amulet's sudden shimmering hue and the stone wall behind shutting.
